Thread: predator shaft logo comes off?

Default predator shaft logo comes off?

I bought the predator shaft with the viking cue stick. After day one, the logo of the predator shaft 'peeled' or 'scraped off'??? That tells you about quality there.

But since my viking shaft looks like the predator, how the heck am I supposed to tell which one is which?

But why would the logo be a sticker? not like a stamped or painted? For a moment I thought I got ripped off by a fake.

    good question...cause wouldn't the logo be sealed/coated. Maybe it's a fake if it's just a sticker than peels off..lol

The only reason for that is you probably ordered a cue where shaft collar has some color inlays to match the butt. In order to do that Viking orders Partial predator shafts. They do come with a few stickers in the package. You most likely will have to sand the shaft in order to get the match you want and that is why you can't have sticker on it right away.

From personal experience those stickers don't last for a very long time. But you can be assured it's the real deal.

Levka is correct. When we receive an order for a Viking cue with an extra Predator shaft, we use Predator Partial shafts, supplied to us by Seybert's, to complete the cue. We add the insert to the shaft so it will accomodate the pin, and add the ringwork that matches any ringwork below the joint on the butt half. The shaft is then sanded smooth and flush with the ringwork, and the Predator decal is applied. Then our UV finish is sprayed over the bottom 3-4 inches of the shaft to protect the ringwork and logo. If the Predator decal came off, it was either a matter of someone using a cleaner that dissolved the finish, or we here at Viking let one slip through that had an insufficient amount of finish over the decal. The finish may have been too thin due to either a thin spaying, or oversanding after the finish application. In either case, I have brought it to the attention of our Mfg. VP, and we'll find out what happened and correct the problem. If the error was ours, please accept my apology for any inconvenience. Be assured this does not reflect at all on the quality of the Predator shaft. They make an excellent product.

    Well,

Since I already bought it and dont want to spend $$$ sending it back and forth I guess I keep this one, but this is the last time I ever consider Predator.

You should feel lucky. I was never one for advertising for some one else. Logos. Brand identification. Where does it stop? Does having the logo on the shaft make you a better player? Not in my book it doesn't. My last new car I purchased I told the dealership that I was not going to advertise for them and that I wouldn't take delivery if the dealership logo was on the vehicle.

Unfortunately companies spend way too much on marketing. Often more than they do R&D. That is to bad because we, as consumers, pay through the nose for a company's marketing campaign. Because we as consumers buy into this BS companies feed us we have no one to blame but ourselves for this media blitzkrieg.

To the guest who lost his Predator logo I would raise a stink about it. If memory serves me correctly I believe when I sent a Jackson Cue into the manufacturer to have a 314 shafted mated to the butt I was told there would be no warranty on the shaft if they left the logo off as I requested. That is kind of a crappy deal. Not only are you spending good money on their product you are practically being forced to advertise for them.

That is a good consumer-based opinion, have you ever considered the manufacturers point of view?

To the guest: I don't know why you wouldn't consider our products again if it wasn't our fault your logo came off.

What, you mean the customer isn't always right? 8O My God what has the world come to!!

If you haven't done manufacturing then you aren't likely to think of the manufacturer's point of view. Since I have, I do, and it's a little unfair to take the blame for everything no matter what the real truth is.

To the guest, I am with Neil on this one. It was a viking error and not something that the guys over at predator did. Blame Viking and ask them to remedy the situation at their own cost since this is most certainly an manufacturing flaw that they would be wise to fix if they wish to maintain their customer loyalty levels.
