    Default 314(2) 12.75 vs 12.25 Tip

Does anyone have a 314(2) customized to a 12.5 or 12.25 mm tip? Is it recommended or not? I figure it would almost give me the amount of spin I need that I could get from a Z(2) but at the same time be more forgiving.

Has anyone shot with both a 12.25 mm 314(2) and a standard 12.75 mm?

    Thanks!

I would be skeptical that there would be a substantial difference with the removal of eighteen thousandths of an inch from the diameter of the shaft. I find that the Predator 314^2 shaft is more comfortable than a 13mm shaft but I have serious doubts that it does a lot more spin by simply the minute thinning that offers.

I would theorize that the treatment of the first six inches or so of the predator shaft makes a lot more difference than the 12.75 diameter.

Before you go and have the shaft turned down, make sure you are using a dime shape on the tip. It does make a lot of difference and, unlike turning the shaft down, it is reversible.
The race may not got the swift nor the battle to the strong, but the smart money bets that way.

    Hi,
Everything is upto your game, style and practice. There are people who can generate more spin with 14 mm tip than what some people cannot do with a z2.

See what suits your style of play.

I would err on the side of larger dia shaft than smaller for accuracy reasons. Improving your stroke would allow you to better spin the cue ball than a mere shaft turning.

Not only that but it could also void the warranty. Any 314-2 or 314 shaft that is turned down below 12.25 will void the warranty. Keep in mind that the shaft is hollow in the last five inches and taking it down below that will seriously jepeordize the integrity of the shaft. Turning the shaft down is also going to mess with the taper and the way the shaft performs as well.
    Quiet beauty, screaming performance!
