Unhappy 314-2 shaft fit too tight

I just got my Predator 314-2 shaft from Seyberts for my McDermott butt (3/8x10 pin). It was sort of an impulse buy.

The problem is the shaft has an extremely tight fit on the joint pin, so tight that I'm afraid to try and turn it all the way. It goes about halfway down the pin until I basically can't turn it anymore.

Is there anything I can do? or should I just take it to a cue repair place?

Hey Killer, I bout a Z shaft a few years ago with a radial pin, not sure what type yours is, but I had to screw it in and unscrew it several times for it to seat all the way in. It was a tight fit for some time but it comes on and off pretty easy now and I've never had any problems with the shaft. Hope thathelps.

Are you sure you have a 10 thread pin? There are some cues out there with Mcdremott that have a Radial or bastard Radial pin that looks like the 10 thread. Let me know what model number you have and I can verify that for you. If it is a 10 thread then you can use wax, chapstick or anything that will aid it seating the pin, you will need to spread it in the hole and on the pin and it should help.
    Thanks, Rick

I looks like a 10 thread pin. It's the pin thickness I'm worried about. I can take a picture of it when I get home.

The cue itself is an older McDermott, this one to be exact...

Thanks for your help by the way. I'm considering just returning this shaft and going for the Predator 5K or the Pechauer Custom with the 314-2, like I probably should have done in the first place.

That is the problem with the Mcdermott 10 thread joint... they are inconsistent. Let me know.

From my experiences that is the problem with McDermott... It is no doubt that they make a very nicely done and elaborately executed cue that looks classy and plays fine until you want to use the cue with its original shaft which one it came with. Beyond that it's a different story :-?
