    Default Varney Jump break

Has anyone here heard of or used a Varney Jump Break before? I am going to get one in trade for a sledgehammer and I was just wondering. Thanks in advance.

Well since the Sledgehammers are now made by McDermott, Mike Gulyassy has sold the "sledgehammer" brand name and technology to McDermott and he now offers an MG custom jump/break, I would go with either a custom Gulyassy j/b or a Varney.

I've read a lot of good reviews regarding the varney j/b. Come to think of it, everybody that has purchased a varney swears by it. I have yet to read a negative review from a user.

well I got my Varney in on Saturday ran to the pool hall and started cracking. I would love to say that on my first rack I made the nine on the break or sunk the eight but truth be told I flew the cue ball off the table. This stick really does hit the ton and I can't feel very much deflection after I break. Also the pin is completly different from any break cue I have ever used. It's huge the tip is canvas resin and holds chalk very very well. Nothing like the sledgehammer....good luck getting chalk on that puppy. After practicing a couple of times I was able to find a consistent speed, break make a bal,l and park whitey 3 out of the five times that I tried. Over all the construction is high quality and the shaft actuallys feels custom made. It's it worth 4 bills I don't know but if your GF buys it for you it sure is one of the sweetest fkng break cues you can try.

I wouldn't buy a Varney unless I get it on the second hand market. He is too much to deal with and it takes forever to get a cue from him.
I just used one of his jump/break cue today for the first time, it gets the job done really well but there are so many other cue makers out there that can get you the same if not better cue without all the hustle....

    But Skor,

What kind of break cues have you already tried? I had a Predator Sport BK2 with 18.2oz and now have a mezz PB2 with 17.6oz wich feels beter for me. Is there a break cue on the market better than this ones?

I've tried many break cues, production and custom.
Again, better is a personal thing. Whatever work better for you might not feel right to me. you have to try different cues with different specs until you'll know what is best for you.
