Upgrading Equipment

Say you had 2 or 3 hundred dollars to spend to upgrade your game. Would you spend the money and buy a new Predator BK cue or would you try out the new Z shaft? Say you had to choose one or the other.
I have a Viking cue with a 314 shaft. but i am looking to try something new. and i cannot decide if i want to try and modify my cue shaft or if i want to try and perfect my break by buying a Break cue.

I love my 314 but i keep hearing alot about this Z shaft.... so id like to try it. But the delema is I may not like it and Im pretty sure id like the BK cue...What do you guys think?

If you already have a decent cue, use the money for lessons.

Your right... I knew I'd hear that... but it is the Truth. What do you think the best way to find a GREAT instructor? i don't want a guy who is just great at pool and sucks at teaching.

Unless you game is straight pool or one pocket, I'd say go with the BK if you don't have a break cue. Any improvement you get from the Z shaft compared to the 314 will be rather small, and some people prefer the 314 anyway so it might not do anything for you. A great break can improve your game immediately, especially if you're mostly a 9 ball player.

In order to achieve various levels of BCA certification you have to demonstrate your ability teach. In fact to get the master certification you need a favorable review of your skills as an instructor are judged by other BCA certified Master instructors. Or something like that. The point being is that BCA certification is derived from a proven ability to teach. That's something that not to many of the pro pool schools or instructors can claim.
