View Full Version : need help fixing my instroke
Ive had my instroke case for 3 days now and the buckle to open the top popped off (the one that turns to secure the top). I was wondering if there was anyway I could fix this myself or do I need to send it back. I was really surprised at the quality and reputation of the case but I think ive got a bad apple.

I have had a couple Introke cases...the first was great...the one I got last year had the same thing happen with the top knob coming off...it was sent back in and the place I got it gave me another Instroke to use until I got it back...during that time 2 of the snaps on the handle came off (I don't think they were crimped good enough)...I take care of my equipment so they weren't abused at all...last month one of my team mates had the top knob come off his also...disappointing but Instroke did fix them all with no charge to me...I have not had any further problems since I got it back...maybe Seybert's or Mr Barton can expand on this a bit?
Thanks for the advice. Ill get with seyberts and see what I need to do to get it fixed.
I wonder if this is a common problem with introke cases. If so, is it easily fixable?
They are not easy to fix. It is always best to contact who you purchased the case from and they can fix you up. thanks

I had an Instroke with a crushed tube (this is not easy to do.) I sent it to Instroke (John Collins), and for $25, I got a new, full set of tubes, cleaned & oiled leather, and S&H. This was the best deal I've gotten in 10 years.
Anyone that wants to sell me broken Instroke cases for cheap, I'll buy them all.

hiTechie, Wouldn't get rid of my Instroke for anything...they are great cases and John Barton (formerly John Collins) does an outstanding job standing behind the product...I hope nobody thought I was dissing Instroke above. :)

We had a bad batch of latches last year. We thought they were going to be really good but then they turned out to be unsuitable for the task. We will replace any latch that is broken with a brand new and MUCH stronger one. With the replacement latches we haven't had a single incident come to our attention of breakage.
Now there are going to be several thousand cases out there with the inferior latches and it is impossible for us to recall them all. All in all we are still just a small company with limited resources, plus many users have no problem with the bad latches - just lucky I guess :-))
Anyway - http://www.instroke.com for repair requests.
While we are on the subject of latches though. Instroke has this year developed a new latch that is practically indestructable. We designed it, we paid for the mold and we are the only company with it. This latch is NOT commercially available to the other case companies. All new Instroke cases produced since May have a diamond shaped latch on them that is a monster. The cases "look" the same and they function the same but there will be no more latch issues, I hope :-)
I know that we have been plagued over the years with the latches but here is why I opted for building a better latch system rather than changing the way the case is opened and closed. An Instroke case with the latch is the easiest to open and close, one hand - one twist and pull up and the thing is open and stays open. No buckles or snaps which usually require tow hands to work when opening, closing or both. To many of you this might seem like a little thing. No big deal to use two hands, right? Well if any of you are like me you are often otherwise engaged at the pool room and you want to be able to easily extract your equipment from it's case and easily put it back. This was my goal and it was achieved with the turn latch. So next time you have to put down your hamburger that you are trying to finish before your match starts because you have to use two hands to open your case and to beat on it to get the cues out think of how easy life would be with the one hand - one twist presto open of Instroke. :-))
Thank you for your indulgence.
