I played a few games with Alex about a month ago when he was in Toronto. He has a lot of power on his break for a short guy. I did manage to win couple of racks (before he ran 7 straight on me) lol

It's not about power, it's about speed.

ummm watchu mean? Are you talking about the break?.....Wouldn't more speed cause more power/more power means more speed?

Power is one thing.....not everyone can break as Bustamante or other top pros. Me for instance trying to learn the soft break. I can hit hard (not as hard as Neil, and I tried) but i just don't have the control over the cue ball. :P

Since you are only moving a 6 ounce ball, you don't need power in the normal sense. Body builders rarely break very well as they do not generate a fast arm speed.
Power and strength are not related in this sense.

ahh now i get your point, how stupid of me not to get it. But yeah it's true, just look at Bustamante and Pagulayan, i mean they're not eexactly the macho type of guy. I would also like to add that it's not just about speed but body distribution aswell. If you put all you weight on that stick you get more power.

Martial artists can focus their energy much better than the average joe.
So a punch that is delivered by two different people with the same strength won't have the same effect due to the delivery and focus, make sense?

yes...speaking of martial arts...same thing applies to Bruce Lee's 1inch punch hets alot of power since he knows how to use 'body distribution'
