I just got my income tax refund ($1200  ) and am going to spend (most of) it on a new cue and some other pool supplies. I'm looking to spend around $500 or so on the cue, and then get a 314 shaft as well.
I really like the look of Joss cues, and have heard good things about them. I was wondering what your opinion on Joss cues was, and if fitting a 314 shaft on one was a possability, and how hard it would be if I first bought the cue, and then the 314 later.
Sid, do you sell Joss cues? Is a Schon or different cue a better buy for the $ ?...
Thanks,
Jeremy.

I have a Joss Cue that I bought about a year ago. I just got a predator shaft about 3months ago for it and it plays great. I was very impressed with the hit. Only problem now is I need to get a predator shaft for all my cues cause normal shafts just dont seem right anymore =)

I PM you about the Pechauer cues, but I wanted to repeat some of the things I already said. I really feel the Pechauer cues are a great value. Theyare as nice as any Schons I have held. The fit and finish are second to none. They play wonderfully, a nice solid hit. For the same amount of money I feel you get a nicer looking cue that plays as well as a Joss or a Schon, for the same amount of money. :D

I agree that Pechauer for the money is a better cue. Not to take business away from Seyberts cause they are awesome but you might also want to look into Jacoby Custom Cues. I have a Jacoby and I never shoot with my Joss anymore. Never know maybe you can talk Bruce into selling his RB to you =)

I had a Meucci cue for many years till it was stolen.
I then started researching which cue to buy and decided on a Joss.
It is an absolutley beautiful cue, the one I had always wanted.
I played with it for about 4 months and then decided to get a
Predator shaft to fit the Joss butt. I called the folks at Predator and
was told that it would be best to call Danny James at Joss to discuss
how to get the best match of the shaft and butt. (millimeters, etc)
I spoke with Mr James and he said I needed to work this out with the Predator folks. Went ahead and bought the Predator shaft to fit the Joss. Immediatly my game went up a couple of balls per rack.
Next I purchased a full Predator cue. The first time I played with it
I ran 10 balls in a row (as I am just an average player this is not
normal). Bottom line is that now I use the Predator cue
98% of the time. Haven't used the beautiful Joss cue in months.
If you decide to buy the Predator shaft make sure to order it with the
nickel rings if your Joss butt has those type of rings. It makes the cue
look much nicer if the butt and shaft match.
Hope this helps.

Hey Zigzag?
Which predator cue did you order and play with now?
Thanks

I was ZigZag but now post as Cueman because for some reason my ZigZag profile didn't get saved after that post.
Anyway, I bought the Predator model 2K6 with the extended shaft. Makes it easier to reach those long shots, especially on 9 ft tables.
Bought the cue thru Seybert's.
So cueman/zigzag,
In your own opinion, do you think the Joss w/ the predator shaft shoots the same as the Predator 2K6?
The reason I'm asking is I'm considering just buying a Predator shaft for my cue, or buying a whole Predator Cue. What do you think?
I would really appreciate any insight you have over this experience. THank you.
It's difficult to compare the two cues without one actually shooting with each.
Both are 19 oz cues. The Predator feels more like a club while the Joss
has a slimmer, lighter feel. It's almost as if one of them is not 19 oz.
The Predator definitely feels heavier.
The center of balance on the Predator is 19" from the end of the butt.
The cob on the Joss is 18 3/4" from the end of the butt.
I can say this, if you put a Predator shaft on your present butt, you
will feel a difference. More control of english and less squirt.
Whether it is worthwhile to buy a full Predator depends on how your cue plays once your put a Predator shaft on it. I would say buy a Predator
extended shaft and see how it plays. Down the road you may want to
go ahead and get the full Predator. If you do, you'll have 2 Predator shafts which is also cool since you need to have 2 shafts anyway.
Finally, I believe the Predator butt is made by Viking. You may want to
ask Sid about this. See if anyone in your area uses a viking cue that
you can shoot with to see how it feels.
Le me know what you decide. Good luck

Hello,
The two cues are very similar. The magic of a Predtaor cue is all in the shaft. You can put a Predator shaft on any cue and really increase the cues performance. Both the Joss and Predator use a stainless collar and 14 thread joint so there are very little differences in the cues. Probably, Joss is the closest to a Predator butt handle there is (except for the Falcon Cue line as they are the ones that make the Predator Butts :D )
Later,
What tip size do you guys use on your predator shafts?

The Joss is a 13 1/4 and I believe the Predator is the same.
All Predator shafts come stock with a 12.75mm diameter shaft.
So cueman,
I decided to order a predator cue (from Seyberts!) It should be here on Friday! (Predator 2K4).
I'm kind of worried because I usually buy cues that I test out at a store, but I did play with my friend's predator (1999 model) and I really liked it. I hope the cue is good looking. It's hard to tell what a cue really looks like based on internet pictures.
I'll post more next week as soon as I get a few racks in. THanks for the advice! You too Sid! Thanks for the advice
