table cloth....backing or not?

do I really need cloth with backing?
pro's?
con's?

I would not use the backed cloth. It plays slower. The best way to go is Simonis or Championship 3030 cloth. It more expensive, but after the investment in your table, cue, and all the excessories, I feel the last place to save $50 bucks or so is the cloth as you will be shooting on it for two or more years.
