View Full Version : the way it felt
Hi guys,
I've been a longtime cuetec user, though I have used other cues such as viking. I was looking at a nice wooden cue to buy and a friend let me try out his Schon, 19.5 oz (what I usually go for). I felt like I was playing with a bag of bricks! I had never felt such a heavy 19.5oz in my life. Is this something that "goes away" after playing with the cue for a while, or is it something inherent to Schons given their balancing? I also felt that I was getting much less feedback from each hit than I would from even a Cuetec with its stainless steel joint and fiberglass coating. Is this something particular to Schons, or to most wooden cues with a stainless steel joint?

As I would guess most people say, feel is all up to your personal preference. I personally like vikings implex joints the best of all the cues I have used.

I’ve been playing with the same cue as you a Earl Strickland series with the fiberglass coated shaft, I bought probably about 6 cues since then but I can never get used to it because of the balance and the linen wrap, I bought recently a P2 with leather wrap and it feels exactly the same (balance) and the leather is great. I suggest you take your time shop around you won’t get a better deal then Seybert but shopping will give you the opportunity to try the feel of a cue, then buy a 314 shaft.
