View Full Version : UPS to Canada brokerage fees???

Hi,
I'm planning to have 2 cues shipped to Toronto, worth over US$300. However, I have heard that UPS charges exorbitant brokerage fees to clear customs for you. I'm not even talking about the usual duties & taxes. I do know Seyberts also offers USPS as an alternative, with a considerably lower brokerage fee. But how about their delivery reliability compared to UPS(which despite their cost is exemplary)? USPS has no tracking option?
In addition, have you had any complaints/comments from past Canadian customers regarding UPS brokerage fees?

Please give me advice based on your experience with Canadian orders.

Thanx!

You are correct, we have heard from customers that the brokerage fees are high on the UPS shippments.

US Postal is much cheaper, but as I have mentioned in the past, they are very slow on insurance claims and their tracking only covers when it left the states. Maybe with it being Canada, they offer better tracking. Rick is on vacation this week and he really understands out of country shipping better than anyone.

We also offer Fed Ex. Not for sure how their fees are. Any Candians out there have some words of advice?

Thanx you for your input Sid!
I'll await Rick's opinion on this then. I expect to get those cues in May anyway.

Yes UPS has incredibly high custom fee... sometimes even higher than the taxes themself.
A good alternative is Fedex I believe. Their custom fee is "fair" and they do provide tracking number with a relatively faster shipping compare to USPS.
