I don't think anything beats a nice layer of Master's on a tip for solid contact, english, and control. I know that I prefer it. Almost all players that I've ever seen who are better than me use it exclusively. Some that are worse than me don't seem to care.

It even seems to feel better to me when rubbing the chalk cube on the tip. At least that's how I feel about it.

I started using Masters...switched to Silver Cup because I liked one of their colors better...immediately went back to Masters. The Silver Cup was more grainy, didn't stick as well to the tip and I got more on my ferrule and hands than on the tip.

Masters Green (no discoloration of ferrules, plays the same as the other colors).

I also use Master's brown/gold, it doesn't stain the shaft and it's easy to clean off. All of the Master chalks hold really well, better than any other brand I've used before.

I have to agree with sonnic on this one. I wouldn't trade my Balabushka chalk for anything.
I would also recommend everybody try it once. I know it's not commonly or easily found, but it's worth the stretch.

I agree balabuska chalk is the only one I use.

I think I remember Sid saying they have a few boxes on a previous thread.
A tip for current and future Balabushka users: don't let it sit out. I had all but the first 3 cubes of my first box dry out on me :x . Whatever you don't have with you, put into a plastic bag and in the freezer.

i use 2 different types of chalk. depending on where i play. master for air-conditioned pool hall. triangle for non-air-conditioned. master doesn't seem to hold that better in warm humid weather. (as also observed by the pro player here) this is in the philippines though.

I like masters brown/gold bc of the stated no staining, but also bc it blends in well and when I'm focusing on a shot I never get a glimpse of bright blue or green.

I agree with DevilJay. The blue Brunswick is good alternative to Master.

Is there any other chalk maker other than Silver Cup that makes chalk in a navy blue? I would like to use a better chalk. I have navy blue felt and have tried the Masters blue and it makes a huge mess on my navy cloth.

Masters "black" is my personal favorite i find it has better coverage than the masters "blue" and less clumppy than the masters "green".Also i find its the best at sticking to my break cues phenolic tip, and doesn't clump up either. as far as mess wise its about the same as master "blue" about the only time it is a bit more noticeable on the table (standard green, or blue cloth) is where you break from if you break form the same spot every time after the coures of many many many games.
