Hey Rick,
Thanks for the Simonis Green, looks sharp and plays nice, I just got my table installed last week.
But I find that I get some excess Chalk marks that do not like to come out with a brush. I have a Horse hair brush... but the chalk marks look almost like small cigarette burns...
What can be done to clean it up...?
thanks
jc.

I use a shop-vac and also a dirt devil to vacuum my table.
If you are talking about little white marks, this is caused by a cheaper cue ball. You will need to get an Aramith cue ball, red or blue circle.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the reply, but I have the Aramith Supers. And the cue ball has a red Aramith symbol on it.

Do you break really hard? or do jump shots or masse?
That is how I get small friction burns in my Mali cloth. They don't come clean because they are burns, not marks.
My 2 cents...
Yes you are absolutely correct. That is why if you use cheaper balls it will burn the cloth just from normal play.

Burns...wow my cloth is only 10 days old... Maybe I should have bought the Tounament cloth instead. I'm a little dissapointed in Simonis.
It will do this with any of the cloth, it depends on how rough you play on the table.

If memory serves me correctly, I read on the Aramith web site that the friction between the cloth and the ball can get to over 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Cloths are made out of wool blends, and they do not blend them with asbestos. That kind of temperature will burn any cloth. You can see it at the pool hall that uses a quality cloth (for playability) and on a bar box that where the vending operator could care less about how well a cloth plays but is concerned with how long it will last.
Keeping the cue level will lessen the friction. Jump shots or a masse shot will create more fiction. These burn marks are part of the normal wear and tear on a cloth. If you practice your jump shots and masses you will get a lot of these marks.

I finally had a chance at playing at the local pool hall here after having my own table (for 10 days) with the Simonis 860. They have the Tournament cloth.
And I did notice many burns in their cloth as well. So I will put my complaints about the white spot burns to rest.
What I did find that the Cue ball deflection wasn't any where like the Simonis. Where's I could judge and compensate for the amount of spin rather easily. The tournament cloth did not take english anywhere near to the same level that the Simonis does. It would appear that the Tournament cloth would seem quite dead. Or it just might be that their cloth might need changing from the amount of use on them.
I know the Simonis will contribute to my game and the enjoyment of playing on my new table.
jc.
thanks again Rick for the Simonis.

Can you wash your simonis cloth with a damp cloth to clean it?
I have heard of some billiard clubs here that do this occasionally.
But will this make the cloth play slightly faster or slower?
