I took my cue and new moori tip to 2 billiard stores and they both said they wouldn't install it. 1 because they didn't install tips.. and the 2nd place said that moori tips sucked. I told him i payed 25 bucks for it and he said that didn't mean that it was good. Suposeably he did one once and it warped so he doesnt install layered tips anymore.
I have heard people in this discussion room talk up the moori tip. I dont know what to believe now. Im going to try another store tommarrow.
So is moori the best tip made??? I was under the impression it was... :?
yep, it is. Keep trying.
when layered tips first came out, there were some really bad ones. If the tip installer got a bad one and gave up, he might want to reconsider. What does it matter any way. You just wanted him to install it.
Regarding your local re-tipping "pro". If he has not done Pred's 314s before, let him ruin someone else's first.
Talisman has instructions for re-tipping multi-layer tips that they suggest taking to your local "pro". If he does not have a lathe, go somewhere else.

My guess is it a lack of experience working with layered tips and availabilty of replacement tips. If they mess up a tip that they sell they will pull another one out of the box and start again. If they mess up with your tip what are they going to do?? OOP's! The installer has to have experience and confidence that he can get it right the first time. Most stores don't stock expensive tips let alone allowing their installers practice installing them. When Moori became popular a lot of cheap imitations showed up on the market. I was talked into trying some of these tips by the manufactures. The layers would just shred apart when I trimmed it on a lathe. It was very rare to have this happen with a moori tip. If they have tried and failed with cheap layered tips they won't have the confidence to risk working with your one and only moori.
I install my own Moori tip since they are expensif and no one will guaranty that they will stay on and the first one I got someone else to install it fell off after 2 days. Installing your own is a nice way to go.
We can garuntee the tip not to pop off for the first 30 days. thanks
