View Full Version : Viking joints and various "hits"

Hi Folks,

I've been trying to decide on a cue after being away from the game for many years. I previously had a Palmer cue circa 1972 and it had a stainless joint. I don't remember considering the hit either hard, firm or soft. With the Viking offering we have a choice of joints and various types of hits. I am considering the VM 18 which is offered standard with the #5 joint and a "soft" hit. I really like the solid construction of steel and might change to the #1 joint(steel to implex) and its "firm" hit. Having just started playing again, I have been using house cues which I guess would be described as having a "soft" hit. That feel is fine to me. Will I really notice a significant difference with the #1 joint and it's firm hit. I don't think it will be that different but am trying to avoid making a mistake. I realize it is personal preference, I just don't have any recent experience to rely on.

All opinions and comments would be appreciated. Maybe the Viking rep could reply

Thanks

Sorry for posting this message. I found another message down the list which fully explains the various joints and hits.

My apologies!!

I have two vikings with standard joint number 5. I like them. It has the quick release feautre...holds tight..and gives a really good hit. I personally do not see where the construction could be weak or disfunctional...unless you try poll-volting with it 8)
