Recently I bought predator cue from Seybert’s and ask you guys to change the tip. It looks beautiful I change mine sometime but would not look that good. Can you tell me how you change them especially how to cut side evenly and what you use to brush the side? I use super glue gel and knife to cut the side.

I should put here 1st

Thank you.

Get a tool called the BIG SHAVER. It does a good job in cutting the side of the tip evenly. It even has a burnisher among other functions. What I also use for burnishing is one of those cheap cardboard "mats" placed underneath a glass of beer served at the bar.

We have invested a lot of money into our lathe and we have a dedicated cue smith to do the tips. This is probably why you can't get it to look like it does from the factory. But, for home use and you don't want to spend much money the BigShaver is the best tool out there. There is a technique that we use while the shaft is spinning. We will take a utility knife to cut down the side, very effective.

Well, we have a couple of things going for us here.
1. We have a very good lathe that makes the triming of the sides very easy. With the shaft spinning, you just take a stanley knife and run it off the end of the cue cutting off the excess as you go.

2. Jason Mahaffey. I don't even try to do tips anymore. He does such a great job on them I can't even come close.
