How are the Mcdermott shafts? Very solid like the Predators or do they have some flexabilty?
I currently have a Falcon and prefer the hit and the shape I can get on the Cue ball. Are there any Cues out there that have a Whippy shaft?
I was just wondering about the Mcdermott shaft?
thanks for the replies

I own a McDermott and a custom cue and a predator shaft for the McDermott. The original shafts for the McDermott were somewhat whippy (but bear in mind I bought this used) though they didn't have a tremendous negative effect on my game. I could definitely feel the difference when I got the Predator shaft.
Since buying my custom I had the cue maker make a laminated shaft with a very hard tip for the McDermott so I could break with it. At the same time he respliced the butt which was warped slightly and moved the balance point a little bit forward. Since getting the reconditioned butt and new shaft back I find I like the way my McDermott with the new shaft plays better than with the Predator shaft or the original shaft, and I actually think I like it better than my custom cue from the same cue maker.
Long and short of it. Probably no production shaft will play as stiffly as a Predator or a custom shaft (to your presribed stiffness), but I think the effect that has on your game is very much determined by how advanced your game is. If you're not a big user of Enlish, I really think it is a moot point how stiff the shaft is.
That said, I love my reconditioned McDermott with the new very stiff shaft.
IMHO.

I have a Mcdermott stick and replaced the shaft with the 314. I definitely noticed the difference. I chose to use medium hard tip (Moori) and lightened up on the stick to 17 oz. This helped my game by concentrating on my stroke. I also have 2k1 and the hit is more solid, but the final outcome is the same. For me, it's not the feel, it's the feel of the proper stroke to make the balls and for better cue ball control.
