I have been playing with a custom cue several years now. I like the idea of walking in and not seeing someone else with the same cue that I have. Seyberts has a lot of great cues (Pechauers I have heard are great) and I am sure they would be happy to help. If you are leaning towards a custom made cue created by one man from scratch take a look at www.galynx.com/jolney/index.htm he lives close to me and I feel he makes a tremendous cue with a great hit. His site was down this morning but I think he is putting some new cues up on it. I have seen them and they are beautiful and reasonably priced (in your range, which I wish was my range also  )...happy hunting.

Boy, with a $1000.00+ to spend (is that US dollars) I think you can get a really nice cue.
Try looking at Schuler cues http://www.schulercue.com/ his cues have a great reputation and he makes various different shafts to meet a particular persons needs. They are also really handsome cues.
The Pechauer's they sell here look pretty good (not my taste, but that's a personal thing) and pechauer also has a good rep.
Schon's are supposed to hit nice, never tried one.
You might want to think about the Predator, I only have a Predator shaft but I like the way it plays with my McDermott butt. Also it is pretty hard to beat their money back guarantee. Even if there is nothing wrong with it, but you just don't like it, you can return it.
The more I think about it unless you can find a place to hit with the other brands I mentioned, the money back guarantee might be your best bet.
Good luck,
Steve. <-- Envious of your 1000 bucks.
