View Full Version : Predator Joints
How does the wood 2 wood joint differ from the stainless Predator joint, from a performance view point. vibration, transfer of energy, shock ect..?
The wood to wood joint will transfer energy through the shaft into the butt section, which then you do feel more of the shot. This is why I play with the wood to wood joint in all of my cues, I feel that I can feel the tip on the cue ball more. The stainless joint, when striking the ball, will tend to have more of a dead hit. The energy will stop at the metal joint creating less solid hit. In my opinion I think that the wood to wood joint is more solid. This is why a wood to wood break cue will create more power.

Rick,
You probalby know how to access the rec.sport.billiard newsgroup, go take a look at it. Virtually the same question was asked there (probably by the same person looking for multiple opinions), but the answer was very different. Basically the answer there was that the difference was so minimal as to be non-existent.
Steve.
That is probably correct. The difference is minimal, but I have been playing for some time and I can tell the difference. I have a very soft and touchy stroke, so I can feel just about anything.
It all comes down to personal preference......I am not saying that I can't run out with any type of cue.... lol
