just wondering can you change the weight of a lucasi cue. like 20 to 19 oz.

Take off the rubber butt protector and remove or shorten the weight bolt with a 6mm allen wrench.

I removed the weight bolt -- is it just that long screw at the end of the, ahem, butt? -- but the weight difference seems negligible. Is there an actual weight in the middle of the butt or is removing that bolt the only way i can decrease the weight of my cue?

BTW, i'm trying to adjust the weight of my L-2000JB jump/break cue.

yes, that is the only weight that you are able to remove from the cue. Somethimes it has a large weight bolt so you can remove more weight, but sometimes the wood was very dense in the cue so it needed a small weight bolt. Unfortunately in those instances the bolt is all the weight that can be removed. You can drill out some of the hole to take away the wood inside the cue to lighten it somewhat, but you can imagine how much wood would have to be removed to lighten the cue. Remember how little the weight moved when you removed the bolt.
It is actually something you might investigate the next time you purchase a cue. Check out the weight of the cue with and without the weight bolt. That way you will know the total amount of weight adjustment that would be available to that specific cue.
Sorry i did not have anything better for you,

I take back the comment i made earlier about the weight decreasing being negligible from removing the weight bolt from my Lucasi. Though the overal weight decrease was probably very small, removing the bolt made a HUGE difference in terms of altering the weight distribution of my cue more towards the center of the cue. The new distribution gives a great feel for breaking -- i just broke a few racks and experienced an immediate improvement in control as well as power (of course results depends on the player!).

Summary: for those of you who got a particular weighted Lucasi break cue and you're looking to decrease its weight, i DEFINITELY recommend you experiment with the cue w/o its weight bolt.

NOTE: For some reason I had difficulty fitting the allen wrench into the bolt (i *think* i had a 6mm not sure :? ) so i needed to use a hammer to lodge it in the grooves a little bit before unscrewing the bolt. Unfortuntely, the metal used for the bolt was a little softer than i expected, so some chaffing occured. Be careful!!

Happy breaking,

Paul

This thread has been very informative to me. I live in Japan and recently purchased a few Lucasi cues from Seybert's, and I'm quite happy with the price and the fast delivery to overseas. For example, the L-2016 sells at $1,000 or more at Japanese local stores!!!
I have a Lucasi L-2016 and it weighs 20 oz. I want it to be lighter. When I unscrewed the bottom rubber and took off the weight bolt, I discovered the bolt weighs only 12 grams, which is, 0.4 oz. That means I cannot make the cue lighter than 19.6 oz. However, I still want to make it as light as possible. The best I can do it to remove the bolt completely, but if I do so, I cannot attach the bottom rubber and I'm afraid the bottom may be damaged. I'm thinking of cutting off part of the bolt, but looks so neglegeable in terms of the total weight. Plus, I don't want to damage the important part of my beloved cue. Does anyone have a good idea of attaching the bottom rubber without the weight bolt? If Seybert's has a very short-ultra-light spare bolt, I'd love to get one. Thanks.

Sorry, "$700 or more" is correct. My miscalculation.

There is a quick inexpensive way to fix your problem. You can take some clear silicone and apply to the rubber butt cap to secure it in the hole. The nice thing is that it don't harm the cue and can be easily taken off.

Thanks for the info, Rick. Is "clear silicon" something I can get at a local store? I have a vague idea of what silicon is, but I don't know of any product name or brand. I hope it won't stay sticky like glue...

You can get this at any local hardware. The nice thing is that it will dry up into a rubber substance and is easily pealed away.

a slight weight change can make a huge difference. my viking was originally a 19.5 oz cue and i had the store add another .5 oz bolt to it to make it a 20 and it made a huge difference.

Removed the bottom bolt, put some silicon and had the rubber stay there. It feels great !!! It's true what an amazing difference it makes when you remove just a little weight off the bottom. Thanks for all the info !!! :D

I bought an LE40 from Seyberts. And I love it. Here's my question. I ordered a weight of 18.5 ounces. When I got it the weight bolt was missing. So, I can't be sure of the actual weight. Does anybody know the actual weight of this model without the weight bolt? Thanks

The actual weight of this cue is what it stated on your order. We had to take the bolt out to get the weight you requested. thanks

I'm selling my Lucasi SP to a friend of mine, but he thinks it's too light. It already has a weight bolt. Can I get my hands on a heavier one??
