Hi!
I have a question. I want to buy a McDermott cue. Also I would like the original shaft to be modified by turning it down to 12.25 + I want the cue to be 18oz. Am I right to think that by turning the shaft down the balance point would move more to the back? The quicker your response here the quicker my order...:icon_biggrin:

I'd order the cue at 18oz and if it's too heavy just take the weight bolt out. Don't confuse balance and weight though, just because one cue feels " balanced" at 18oz doesn't mean another will.

You are right that turning down the shaft will give less weight in the front. The best way to achieve a rear balanced cue is to get one with an implex or wood to wood joint. While the shaft will only shave about .25oz. the joint will decrease the weight by up to 1oz. Like marek stated, each cue will be different even at the same weight.

As Rick stated, the shaft T/D will reduce the overall wght. of the cue by maybe .25oz. You should notice no difference in bal. point shift.
