Just got a Diveney break cue with the g-10 tip/ ferrule combo. I still haven't got to use it, but it's by far the best balanced break cue I've had. I was wondering what to expect from the g-10 tip. Are they alright or should I go ahead and make plans to have it replaced w/ regular tip and ferrule?
g-10 is harder then the phenolic that the balls are made of so be prepare to damage the cue ball...
Personally I don't see the logic in putting such a hard material.
I've been breaking/jumping with phenolic tips for a long time and lately I've using a White Diamond tip (which is softer then phenolic) on my J/B cue and I like the feedback I get compared to phenolic tips.
I'm a true believer that the perfect break comes from the stroke and not the cue/tip...
It was a lot more fun to see Bustamante using his BIG break with a leather tip then his recent soft break with phenolic tips...

Skor,
That's what I thought you'd say. I have a Stinger with the phenolic tip and I don't much care for it. Ordered another a while back and had Jerry put a hard leather tip on it. Also had him leave the sealant off the shaft, so I'm anxious to break with it. Should hit like a monster ... tip is about 12.80mm with that stiff Stinger taper. Anyways...I was guessing the g-10 would hit about the same as the phenolic. I had to get the cue, it's a beautiful piece of bacote and the price was right. Probably need to talk to KJ about taking off the g-10 and replacing with an aegis ferrule and white diamond tip and maybe making an extra shaft. Thanks for the feedback.
I would leave the G-10 ferrule and just cut the top end of it and put a White Diamond tip. The G-10 will be much more durable and less likely to crack and will add power while the WD tip will give better control...
Something similar to what I (Seybert's and KJ) did with a phenolic ferrule and a WD tip on my Player's J/B cue.

Skor,
Good idea.. and simpler is always better. Do you think the tip will have any trouble bonding to the g-10? I wouldn't see why it would, but a second opinion never hurts.
