View Full Version : KJ cues
Hello KJ, I would like to know what you compare the hit of your cues with. I'm playing with a Falcon and I find that there's too much deflection. I tried a Predator and I have a lot of trouble adjusting to it because there's not enough deflection and it ruins my game. I would like to buy one of your cues or maybe a OB-1 shaft. What happens if something happens to the ferrule of the OB-1 shaft is it replacable because it's made of wood?

If the Falcon has too much deflection and the Predator not enough you might want to try and take the diameter of the Falcon down some. Assuming that your Falcon is their standard 13mm you might try .25mm to .75mm and depending on the current taper you may want to lengthen that as well. A cheaper solution than purchasing a new shaft and while you may not get exactly what you want you don't know if that will be the case with a new shaft until you buy one and get a chance to give it a good workout.
First time I hear someone complains about "not enough deflection"....
From reading your post I assume that you play at a beginner level, which is cool! no one is born professional.
Side spin is the hardest part of the game for beginners. You should only start learning using side spin once you game on the vertical axis is good enough.
No cue will save you! there are no magic cues and each brand has it's own amount of deflection and more important a different pivot point.
I think that you should pick a cue that feels right when you hit a dead-center ball, that will give you the best feedback (according to your preference) and get used to it and find its pivot point.
Skor is correct (again). Center of ball for determining 'hit'. Then start moving off center to see how it 'moves' the ball.
"Doesn't deflect enough"...??? Man, the ramifications of this are mind-boggling. Regardless of your skill-level, there will be adjustments to be made throughout your life as a player. Every table plays differently, some cloth is faster than others, cleaner balls don't 'throw' as well as unclean, tips play differently (sometimes out of the same box), etc. etc. etc. etc. Do you know that most all road-players DO NOT own their own table? Their thinking is, why get used to one table when they play a different table every night? Makes sense to me. No, take the time to get used to a Predator. Once you do, you'll never want to play anything else.
The OB wood ferrule is replaceable thru OB-Cues.
I'd like to think that my cues have a 'feel & play' all their own but I've been told more than once that they play like a cross btwn. a SouthWest & a Schon. That doesn't surprise me. That's what I was going for.
