I have a 1997 314-6 and an Limited Edition 5 from 1997, Both are as new, I even have the second shaft unused and never chalked. I play with the 314-6 all the time. I am looking to get a Limited Editon Pechauer Natural Beauty or a Schon Elite 54 soon, I like the 314 shaft and am used to it. The question is are the new 314-2 or the Z shafts actually better shaft or marketing? Also are the 5k Predator Cues substantianally better than the ones I own now?? Also any ideas as to which cue is better Schon or Pechauer??
Thanks

The 314² shaft generate less cue ball deflection then the older 314 shafts but if you are very used to the amount of compensation you add to the 314 shaft you'll have to adjust a bit which is not a big deal. The main improvement that I find in the 314² shaft is the ferrule which is much more durable to scratches then the old one.
So yes the 2nd. generation shafts are a bit better.

Both Schon and Pechauer construct a great solid cues. In my opinion both provide great feel and hit and you can't go wrong with any one of them.

To me the feel is much better as well.

Are their differences in their engineering concept? I think they just replaced the ferrule and joint type

The ferrule material is much better, the internal bore is different and the insert and collars are now phenolic.

If those are your options, I love Pechauer with 314-2 myself. Great guys to work with for custom too.
