I dont have my cue in front of me ( at work )
Its a great predator cue I bought from a private guy on-line last year.
I have no problem with teh cue and it plays great.
Friday night after playing...I went to break down the cue to go home.
It only un-screwed about 1/4" then sort of bound-up. I tried screwing it back together and then bavk out and it wont do either. I hope I havent damaged my best cue...and I dont know of a repair guy.
is there somewhere I could send it?
Mike
Hi Mike,
You can certainly send it to Seybert's and I'll take care of the problem for you but let's see if we can do something else first.
What's happened is that a small contaminate of whatever has gotten itself btwn. the pin and the interior of the insert. It doesn't take an object of much size to cause problems here because of the tight tolerances btwn. the pin & insert.
You say you were able to move it a 1/4 of a turn before it locked. Is there enough of an opening btwn. the shaft & handle that you could turn the cue upside down and get a drop of oil to run down into the insert? That should provide enough lubricity in the insert that you might now start to screw & unscrew the shaft from the handle.
Another thing you might try is to place the joint of the cue near a heat source and get it up to 100 to 120 degrees, nothing higher. Since the insert is brass and the pin is stainless steel, the insert will expand quicker from the heat and may let go of the pin. Give it a try.
The Uni-Loc system must be kept clean at all times to prevent just this type of thing from happening. All it takes is a little piece of dirt or whatever to cause problems. Joint protectors should be considered mandatory for Uni-Loc cues.

It cam apart. Thanks.
I did the small amount of oil....and also ,,,the humidty in my basement where it was changed a lot .
It had been completely locked and it just eased apart.
Thank you,
Mike
Hi Mike,
Real glad that it came apart for you. It's very important that you keep the pin & the interior of the insert clean. There's not much clearance in there and it doesn't take much for the pin to lodge. As I stated earlier, joint protectors should be considered mandatory on any Uni-Loc jointed cue.
If you ever need anything else, just ask, KJ
