i've been playing daily with this cue for about a 2 weeks now. it is very responsive and provides an excelent spread even when you dont smash it. the first day or two i was sinking at least one ball on the break, and now i sink at least 2 balls very consistantly.

my sister played a game with me and i let her break with it, she doesnt know how to play pool.... period, she broke like a pro with it.

the rubber grips are amazing. the seam leaves a little to be desired asthetically, as it apears a little uneven and sloppy. of course this could just be my cue as its the only one i've seen. the box they ship it in is beautiful, nicely lined and it even comes with a joint protetctor. the cue stinks like mad for the first few hours from the rubber but the smell goes away very quickly.

once its in your hand, you can just feel the power, the rubber feels very nice in your hand, it sticks too, if you have a loose grip like me you definantly dont feel like you have to worry about losing the stick on your followthrough.

the shaft takes a little effort to screw on and off, but provides a very nice feedback when you make contact, the sweetspot is easy to hit, and it definantly feels good when you hit it. the quick release in the butt for jumpshots is a breeze, and jumps are pleasant as well. took a few hours to get used to it, but i'm starting to like the way it jumps. even with the butt broken down the cue still has a nice balance to it. we have a cabinet obstruction on one of the corners of the table that hides a sump pump and i find myself using this stick with the butt cap off over my normal short stick when the corner gets in the way

all in all i'm extremely pleased with this stick, and would recomend it to any of my friends (unless of course they are talking about getting thier hands on a more expensive toy that i might be able to play with of course)

braindecay, what is the taper like on the cue? from what i can tell, it is a normal poison shaft just with a phenolic tip on it. or does it have a special break taper? i don't really like normal pro tapers for a break cue

thats one thing i found about this cue while trying to do research before i bought it, nobody really has any good information on the shaft of the break version of this cue. some websites have it listed as coming with the sarin tip.

as far as i know, i cannot answer if it is a different shaft then the playing cue ships with. it does have a phenolic tip on it as supposed to the sarin option that comes with thier playing cues.

i use a meucci black dot shaft on my playing cue, the taper is nowhere near as dramatic as that, its slightly fatter too, even at the tip. if i had to guess they manufactuer a shaft specifically for the vx2.9, as i definantly wouldnt want to play with the shaft it came with, even without the phenolic tip. or maybe thats just how they get you to upgrade to the 314 or the z.
