Well someone had to revive this section of the forum...

My small and humble (but growing) pool cues collection got a makeover and it's now on-line.
check it out at here (http://www.sagi-k.com/cues/mycues.html) or from my signature.

The collection will get a new brother (a jacoby) very soon... pictures will be uploaded once I'll get it...

Overall looks:
B E A U T I FU L …… :)
The cue has a nice classic look the choice of colors of the veneers and wrap brings the beauty of the Bocote butt and points.
The ring on the butt matches the veneers configuration and adds some prestige to the cue.

Construction:
The construction of the cue feels very solid and provides a nice stiff hit.
There are some minor construction flaws and although this is not a $3000 cue I did expect a bit more…… but non the less it does not take anything off the cue.
The first two issues are with outer veneers at the base of two points.

The other issue is the tip of one of the point that looks like it broke upon construction and the gap was filled with glue or something like that:

Finish:
Two issues I have with the finish of the cue, none of them I would like to believe were there when the cue left the Jacoby shop and by the way the cue was packed I believe the damages happened while the cue was in stock at the dealer I got the cue from.
The first issue is a stain on the ferrule. I’ve tried to remove it with some cleaners and with light sanding but nothing worked….

The second issue is with tiny hits to the finish on the butt, these are so tiny that most people won’t notice them… I only notice it when inspecting the cue under a light source.
Again by the way the cue was packed there is no way that this could happen in shipment and I believe that this is a result of poor handling of the cue at the dealer shop.

Other then those two issues the finish of the cue is flawless and looks really good.

Weight and Balance:
I’ve ordered the cue with the weight of 18.75oz but the cue I got weigh 19.14oz.
The Butt weighs 14.4oz
The shaft weighs 4.74oz
The balance point of the cue with the original shaft is at 20 inches from the butt end…. This leads me to conclude that the cue was originally weighing from 19.5 to 20oz and that the weight bolt was removed by the dealer in order to reduce the weight.

I usually don’t use the stock shaft and I mostly play with a Predator 314² shaft, the weight of my 314² shaft is 3.97oz so it brings the cue to a more desirable weight of 18.38oz and brings the balance point to a much, much more desirable point at 19 inches from the butt end… My preferred balance point is at 18.5 inches but 19 inches is something that I can live with, although I’m considering getting a weight bolt to bring the balance point to 18.5 inches on the expense of letting the cue weight go up to around 19oz with the predator 314² shaft.

Hit and Feel:
I only realized that the joint is a thin stainless steel sleeve over phenolic when I got the cue (I thought that it’s a normal SS joint like Schon) and I was very intrigued to see how if feels…. My first two sessions with the cue I only used the 314² shaft because I wanted to compare the hit and feel to something more familiar to me (Schon + 314²) and I wanted only the butt to be a difference factor.
I thought that the cue will have a softer hit then the Schon but as it turns out it feels quite the same as the Schon, maybe a bit stiffer.
I really liked the low weight of the combination with the 314² shaft and I got used to the more forward balance very quickly….
On my third session with the cue I’ve taken out the Jacoby shaft. The shaft is tipped with a layered tip which I’m not sure which brand it is but I think it’s a Tiger soft tip.
Being used to play with hard tips for quite a while now the hit was very soft but I did get good response. I played with it 3 or 4 racks before I switched back to the 314². The 13mm diameter and the ridiculously forward balance point made it feel as if I’m playing with a trunk and not a pool cue…. I gave the shaft another try last time I went out the pool hall and played with it for about an hour, I still couldn’t get comfortable with feel of the cue basically due to the balance point.
Since I was planning on using a Predator shaft in any case I’ve retired the Jacoby shaft, maybe I’ll get it turned down to 12.5mm some day and with the added weight bolt I could get the cue to a decent balance point and get it to feel like a pool cue…. But it looks like I’ll end up ordering a new Predator shaft (maybe even a Z² shaft) for it before I’ll do any of the above (my current 314² shaft has a nickel ring and the cue has a plain black collar).

Bottom line:
I really like the cue, I like the way it looks and the way it plays (with a Predator shaft) and although I have some issues with it they are all minor and negligible and do not interfere with my enjoyment of taking it out in a pool hall and kick some butts….

BUT… If you ask me how to spend $600 on a good playing cue then I would suggest to go with Schon and do yourselves a favor, get it from Seyberts…..

I've sold my Mezz jump cue.... I got an offer from a local player that I couldn't refuse...
Although I really liked it I'm always into trying new cues. After all, I can always buy a new Mezz down the road.

So for the last two week I was trying to decide what new jump cue to get, a cue that I've never tried before.
Predator Air, Jacoby and Stealth are some of the cues that came to mind but I've ended up getting a Fisher custom jump cue,the G10 pin is really interesting as it should be lighter then metal and closer to the wooden pin on the Mezz.

The handle is Goncalo alves and the cue is said to weigh 7.75oz
It the second from the top in the picture.
I will post some of my own pictures and my thoughts about it once I get it... can't wait
