Greetings roju,
Welcome to the forum.
Without having a 'Blue Book of Cues' in front of me, I can't tell you much other than that I don't think the cue is that old, based on the style of logo on the butt.
Also, if that's the original shaft, the ferrule has been modified.

Hello KJ,

About the ferulle, it just shows that you are indeed a good observer who pays attention to details. I want to call that a cuemakers' trait.;)
Yes, I modified it myself. I not only replaced the tip with Talisman WB med, from Seybert's of course, but I also shorten the ferulle to 16mm. It's because I thought about somehow mimicking a short ferulle technology coming out lately, but unable to really feel the difference afterward.

What is your take on this?

KJ, if by chance you learn more about my cue, please email me, ok. I just emailed Josscues and hoping they can give me some info as well.

Thanks a lot.

that cue is not listed in the blue book of pool cues but according to it that logo was used on cues that were made in the 90's

roju,
Actually, and maybe without knowing, you were on the right track with shortening your ferrule. The ferrule material weighs more than wood so any reduction of weight on the front end of your shaft, in theory, will reduce deflection of the cueball. Predator goes to considerably greater lengths in the construction of their shafts but the principle is the same.

Hi Skor, (it sounds ++)

Thanks for your time researching about my cue. Just a wild guess, how much is it worth then and perhaps now.
You know, I bought it from SuperPawn about 3 wks ago for $50 tax inclusive. It was dirty and so dented. But it was fun raising it back to its normal state.

If I'm not mistaken then this cue would go under the category of a "level 3" cue (by the blue book of pool cues rating system).

For Joss cues that were made after 1972 (like your cue) the value of a level 3 cue in 98% condition is $400, you have to understand that 98% condition means that it's like brand new cue... for 70% condition the value drops to $195

So for $50 I would say you got a nice bargain....
