As always, love to see your collection. Couple questions, I believe one of your Jacoby's is the second from the right, which is the other? Also, I count 18 cues in the picture but your "My Collection" shows 24 total, where are the others? Great pics too by the way.

Jsggems, still curious about the cues that you don't show, also, would like to see your other Jacoby if possible. Thanks.

Jsggems, these are nice looking cues as well, although maybe not as expensive as the rest in your collection, I think you should include in your collection Pics. Would not take anything away from the others. Is the Jacoby the far left?

My guess would be that the Jacoby is the 2nd from the left just because of its ring work - of course I may be wrong.

You are correct, from left to right, Klein, Jacoby, Meucci, Star cue by A. Rich.

Good call poohkiller, how did you know from the ringwork?

That Star cue looks interesting. What material is that on the joint?

Thanks cuejunky, I knew it from the Blue Book of Pool Cues 3rd Ed. Of course I did not search for this cue but some weeks ago I was reading through the Jacoby section and I found a cue (B-7 if I remember correctly) that was looking very similar to the Predator 5k3 - the only small difference was in the cue's ring work so I could remember for it :)
I am trying to memorize as many cues as I can :-)

: - ))) Thanks! I love that book and I read it pretty often! It was jsggems who made me feel interested in Jacoby cues so kudos to him.
I really like those cues and once - if I'll be able to afford one in the line - I'll get one. A Jacoby won't be the first cue I'll get but it will be one of the first few - nowadays I am trying to save some serious money for a John Davis blank and to get someone who'll make it for me... Any input on this? :)

Poohkiller, I too share your liking for the Jacoby cues, but alas will have to wait as well. I have not heard of the John Davis blanks you are talking about. Besides, what is a blank? Is this a cue that has been started and you find someone to finish for you?

John Davis is one of the very best (if not the best...) blank maker of today's custom cue building world.
He was an apprentice, later on a partner and a very close friend of Burton Spain (by the way, Burton is my favorite cue maker) and B.S. was the world's blank maker until his untimely death at the age of 54 in 1994 - Burton provided about 550 blanks to George Balabushka so that every second (!) Balabushka cue was made from a Burton blank!
John learnt how to build blanks from Burton and he is back to making blanks since the last few months.
You are quite right about what is a blank but instead of trying to tell you what a blank is I'll rather post a picture for you. Wait, rather a link :D
So, here's a link to a thread made on AZBilliards forum. This forumer had two cues made from Davis blanks and both turned out... well, I don't have words for those two (especially the one you may find on the 2nd page made from ebony).
Here's the link for you: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=67497&highlight=John+Davis
A cue like these is my dream now - they look very sharp and yet there is some chance that once I'll have enough money to buy one of these - I can hardly think about a collection like Jsggems' but you know, 'hope dies last' :)
Cheers,

Nice cues and thanks for the cue lesson poohkiller. Incidentally, my friend who I've been playing pool with nearly my whole life bought a Burton Spain plane Jane birdseye maple cue from Burton in his basement shop here in Chicago back in 1980. I've played with it often in my younger days and it always played great, even today, although I have not had it in my hand in a few years. He paid about $50 for it at the time and today is probably worth $1500. At the same time, I bought my first cue, a McDermott and although I believe it plays as well as the Spain, I wish I had bought the Spain also, as I had an opportunity. Who knew?
I like your comment about Jsggems's collection, I guess the rest of us will just have to live vicariously through him.

I'm glad you liked it! If there's anything you would like to now just ask it and if not me (but I hope that I'll be able to help) than somebody on this board will help you so we'll learn new things :-)
Even a plain jane from Burton would be awesome to own and a treasure that I would keep for my whole life... Maybe a couple of years (6-8-10?... who knows?) I'll be able to get one by selling my car, PC, getting a smaller flat, etc... :)
