I don't know if it was done with his new technique that he has come up with or not, so I'm not sure.

This is one of the finest cues I've laid eyes on. Simple, yet brimming with elegance. Like something that you would bring to a "white tie and tails" event. Also, it's been fun to see the progress of it's creation. Thanks for sharing that Jsggems. Would it be possible to see a picture of one of the shafts? I'm curious if the type of wood you mentioned earlier post looks any different than standard maple.
Also, if you have time, please look at the "Best Cue" category, I had a question for you there in the thread about Carolina cues. Thanks.

I get my camera back tomorrow. I'll take a few photos of the shafts and post tomorrow when I have time, ok.
They are not your typical white shafts, they are a darker color.

thats probably cuz he uses lakewood shafts right? or at least old growth shafts which are darker.

They are lake wood shafts I'll post photos later on today.

The middle is a Capone shaft and the top & bottom are the lake wood shafts. They are much darker than the Capone shaft.

Jsggems, very interesting shafts, can really see the tight grain. What does the term "Lake Wood" refer to? It gives me the impression that this is wood salvaged from a lake bed. Is this true, and if so, what are the properties of the wood that is an advantage over standard maple? Sorry to be so inquizative but, something new to me.

You are right, the wood has been under water for 160 years. It is a much denser wood, it's not a nice white shaft, like you see. Very tight grained with darker color wood. Balabuska's, Hoppe's, all had tight grain, dark wood, old growth shafts on these cues. For me it gives a stiffer crisper hit than normal, and that's what I like, it's not for everyone, it depends on the kind of hit you like, cause hit is subjective.

Wow, 160 years under water! Thats cool, adds a bit of mystique to an already beautiful cue. Good luck with it.
