This bridge head is the solution to all those tricky little setups where you get over a ball and use a bridge. I just wonder how legal it is in most house rules. Would love to use it, but don't wanna waste the $50 if BCA or local pool rooms won't let me use it in the tournament.

What a great invention! Whenever I see something like this I always say to myself: 'damn why wasn't it ME who invented this gadget!' or something like that...
Anyways, as they state Steve David and John Parrot has introduced this thing to the public so I think it is legal to use... However I would ask the tournament organizer whether it's legal or not before placing my order.

It would be nice if the "v" part was plastic, i would be concerned about scratching my cue
Actually, it's more likely that you would scratch your shaft from a plastic bridge head because of the seam from the mold.
From my experience the finish of the metal bridge heads is much better and smoother.
I really like the snooker bridges, they are very common over here in pool halls.
I really like the X bridge for most bridge shots
and the high bridge when I have to bridge over a ball
When playing on 9ft or 10ft tables you really don't need any other type of bridge, it's when you play on the 12ft snooker tables when you need those "special" bridges (such as A & B in the next picture)

Around here I mostly run into those like the E on the picture. To be honest I don't really like them because for a shot where the CB isn't behind another ball the X is much better and when you have to bridge over a ball these E-type ones are useless because they're not tall enough - this is true for the ones you can find here, I don't know how tall they're at your place.
By the way, I like this one the most:
