Let me first start by saying that you sir, have a very impressive collection, it certianly seems that you have an affinity for custom cuemakers, if you are open to suggestions you should check out -dzcues.com-, a cuemaker from Erie Pennsylvania. He makes cues ranging from a $200 sneaky pete to $3000+ w/ butterfly point inlays etc... he does ship worldwide.

I believe 80% of the people in this forum ARE familiar with DZ specifically those with collections as gems.

Hi, and thank you for the compliment on the collection. Now, DZ makes a nice cue but his resale prices don't hold, not that I'm selling any of mine real soon. I collect, every cue I have ever bought I still own. I have a 5 year old son and loves playing pool with me at home. When I'm dead and burried, he will have a killer collection to do with what he wants. I just added 2 Carolina cues to the collection the other day. These kids make a great cue, they are up and coming cue makers that are making a name for themselves real quick and their prices are real good at the moment, they make a lot of cue for a little money. One of these days I'll add a DZ to the collection. Thanks again. Jeff, Brazil

I agree that they look good and their price is really good but who says that their resale price will hold...

Something bugs me about these Carolina cues, I think that they cut the wood too fast, they get a cue ready in less then a month, so it might look good but I don't think that it'll hold at time goes by and as they gain table time as well as the top brands that they are imitating...

I said that DZ does not hold a good resale value, this is what the market shows right now, it's slow. It's a buyers market all the way, and I hope that changes in the future.

A friend has one of thier first cues, it's over a year old and it's straight as can be. I'll be a lab rat and test them, only time will tell.

I have also ordered one of their cues, it's taking them about 2 months to build and I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Trevor stated that they already have the wood sitting in the shop and is turned and stabilized over and over again in order to keep it well seasoned.
So in a sense, when someone orders a cue from them, the cue has already been a few years in the making.
Mine should be ready by next week and I'll be more than happy to post a pic for you all to see.

Cue is BEM with 4 points of cocobola. Ivory rings on the ABCD positions, ivory joint and ferrules with a brown lizard leather wrap.
Sounds familiar to you jsggems? :)
Will post pics of final product by the weekend (hopefully)

It sounds like my Capone that I had made last year. Looks good, can't wait to see the finished product.

You are correct Sir. Since I can't afford a Capone like it I had Carolina Cues make one similar.

Should be in my hands by Friday.

Will do. Cue should be done by Monday now, we decided to go with a brass pin and hopefully it will be in my hands by Wednesday.

I'll take good close up pics and post them for everyone to see.

My Bryan Mordt should be ready next month. I'll post pics of if too.

We shall see....
I have a friend who has a Nitti and another friend who has a SW so we'll be comparing the hits.
I also read in the AZ billiards forum that CC's it hit better than a Gilbert.
I never owned a cue with an ivory joint either and I understand the hit is a bit different, that it's going to take some time getting used to it.

I'll keep you all posted.

You still have a wood to wood joint, the Ivory sleeve makes no real difference. If it was a solid Ivory joint, that would have a different feel. With the sleeve it's more of a cosmetic thing.

I played with a Samsara with an Ivory sleeve, it had a real sweet hit 8)

Here is a picture of it

My understanding is that is solid ivory not just a sleeve and that's the reason for the brass pin, supposedly it screws better into ivory that a steel pin would.

Cool, that it's solid, it does take a little getting use to, once you have some time on the table and play with the cue either you'll love the hit of an ivory joint or hate it. I love the way a solid ivory joint with a G-10 pin, old growth wood for a shaft with a 3/4" ivory ferrule with a Talisman Pro hard tip, this is my kind of hit I look for in a cue, a nice stiff crisp hit, I look for that "Tink" sound.

From your picture it does looks as if the ivory is sleeved over another material.

By the way, does anyone know anything about Murray Tucker cues?
I came across his site and his cues are looking really nice

Here's the joint on my cue. Ivory sleeved, your's looks like it will have a hard hit to the cue. It looks like it's sleeved over metal, Can't really tell in your photo.

Murry Tucker makes a real nice, clean lined cue, they hit very well also. He posts more on AZ billiards & EPT forums. I don't know if he's a member here or not.

Ok I've got the scoop on the joint. It's an ivory sleeve over brass which has been inserted in piloted wood for a better hit.....?
Whatever, the boss at CC assures me I'm gonna like the way this baby is going to hit.

Murray Tucker makes very nice cues! He lives about 3-4 hours away from me and when I called him to get a quote on a cue he said that he is not taking any orders for cues and has no idea when he'll make cues again.
Cue making is a hobby for him and he said he hasn't been in his cue shop in a long time.
