View Full Version : Cue Length?
Can someone pls tellme what's the ideal cue length?
I heard a few different opinions. Some say ard chin level...others say slightly below shoulder.....the one i'm using is about chin lenght...
pls advise . thanks.
There's none! But most cues or the standard is 58" in length. I'm 5'7" tall saw I'm Ok with it. I guess if your below 6' tall your OK!
thanks man,
but i'm not veri tall...only abt. 5'2. so most cues are too long for me....was thinking of of getting one just ard. my shoulders...i noticed most good players have cues ard their shoulder height.
is that true? saw this cue yesterday some custom limited edition.but it was too long....but everything else was good...the balance, tip, diameter....
so i ask the guy at the counter to check if the maker can do one same config but shorter one for me....
the one i saw was very steep....$900!!!!
ash, with ebony butt....extension.....veri tempting.
tried it for awhile....managed to screw to yellow from black pot...!!!
should i invest so much in one...? what happens if i decide to change it next time again?
sigh.
They say a good length is to the bottom of your chin. I don't know where I heard that from....sorry.
I heard that either Mosconi or Hoppe was short in height therefore he used a 57 inch cue. I'm 6 feet tall with extremely long arms for a person of my height. So I use a Predator Sneaky Pete with the 30 inch shaft. Otherwise I can't see the end of the shaft when using a closed bridge.
Thanks for replying everyone. Hope to find a cue to suit me soon.
my last cue has become too light for me. a 2 piece mid joint powerglide.
just have to keep trying each cue that comes along then.
btw, i stopped playing for a while last year and my standard dropped like ****.
my highest break was onli 70+ 2 years back now can onli manage to get ard . 40+
i've been trying to get back form but seem to have lost touch. anyone got any interesting practise routines for controlling cue ball. (besides the common ones like lineup etc.)
thanks.

I am also tall, 6-1 and my cue is also 60" it is always better to have a longer cue,.even with children I would still encourage them to use the adult lenght cues..Im not going into the benifits here but I will say, in the long run, it pays off..
