View Full Version : Pechaur Joint
Pecheur comes with its own joint pin style right ( not 5/16 x14,18 or 3/8 x 10) ?
What is the diameter of the pecheur joint pin ? How many threads per inch ? What insert is used in the shaft ?
Is it possible to get a Pecheur with a radial pin (3/8 x 8) ? I kind of like the threads put directly on the shaft wood instead of having a shaft with a insert ?

I have one of the Pechauer IV-2 cues sold here at Seyberts, wonderful cue. :D It comes with a modified 5/16 modified piloted joint, Pechauer calls it their speed joint. I have no idea if you can get a radial pin joint installed, but I did have some silver rings installed on my cue when I ordered mine. I'm surprised Sid or Rick haven't chimed in yet, it must be hunting season in Michigan. :P Try giving them a call they really are great guys to deal with. I haven't talked to Deb yet, but I imagine she is just as nice. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Thanks for the save Easyrider,
5/16 X 14 modified thread. It is a quick release thread that will not fit any other 5/16 X 14 thread shaft. The inserts are made specifically for and by Pechauer.
Radial pins are not an option...sorry.
Too front heavy, too much weight (cuemakers use cheaper and lighter handle usually with firewood)to offset it. Steel kills the reasonance too. The best joint is big pin (no washer in the shaft) phenolic collar in the shaft and buckhorn/buffalo collar. I hate plastic to plactic and any steel joints. The Pechauer joint can't be any worse than the Robinson joint.

could it be that the pecheur you tried had a ebony or other heavy forearm wood that made if too front heavy ? For a maple forearm I dont think they are front heavy. I dont think he even uses balance weight in forearm area and the way he connects the forearm and handle is using wood instead of the conventional metal screw or a joint. plays well and hits well too.
If it's has a steel joint then it's too front heavy. It doesn't matter who made the cue or what the forearm wood is. Of course, you could have been really stupid and bought a Meucci.
lol buckhorn w phenolic shaft collar... meucci hater.... sounds like joey! hehe anyway, i never really got it.. what is buckhorn/buffalo collar?
