Hello! I'd need some help.. Is there anyone out there who has tried a McDermott whit a Predator (or an OB-1) shaft?
I'm asking this because I have about 250 dollars now in my hands so I can order one of those shafts any day I want to.
But I still can wait till Spring to come when I can sell my McD. cue for another 250 dollars!

What do you think, what is better? To buy now a low-deflection shaft for my McDermott or to sell it a few months from now and buy a Predator 4/5k1?

Thanks!

The performance is mostly in the shaft. Different butts with different joints will feel differently, but if the same shaft is used, they will perform with similar results. Try shooting with both. What it comes down to is feel and what you like. Getting used to the performance of the shaft is nothing more than table time and perseverance. 8)

Well, I'd be the happiest man in the world if I had the chance to shoot with a McD + Predator combo but I just couldn't find anyone in my country who could pass me one to try it out! (eventhough I was looking for it very hardly!)

But as I was reading your lines I could hear out of them that there won't be many changes if I'd buy a whole new cue... hmm...

Thanks a lot for your comment, pooh.

That is if you are using the 314 on either cue butt. They may and probably will feel and hit differently. Although they should perform about the same. 8)

If you like the looks, the weight and balance of your McDermott then you should keep it and just get the shaft, But if like a cue that would look and feel different then wait and get a new cue.
The performance will be the same but the "feel" will be different.

Well, I've decided to wait. Because if I'd buy a more expensive shaft for this cue, than it would be even more difficult to sell the whole "configuration". (I'm sure you know that it is almost impossible, to sell a used 300$ cue with an extra shaft.. None of the players would pay 450-500 bucks for a used cue..) So this another reason why I choose to wait.

I would like to feel different cues with different balance so the point is that I want a new cue.

Finally I've decided thanks to you guys :o)

Poohkiller,
I shoot with a McDermott EH-1 with Colorado Red stain instead of natural ( I bought it in 1993 and still love shooting with it). I use the 314 on it and love it. If you take care of my travel and accomodations, I would absolutely love to shoot at the saloon you posted the links to AND let you shoot with it.
Regards,
Kato
