Has anyone seen the tests done by Meucci using a machine to show the amount of deflection with many cues and then run the same tests with their shaft on the cues to compair the reduction in deflection?

Was pretty impressed at the performance of their cue with the black dot shaft and power piston tech.. Has anyone heard anything about this or used the cue?

I shoot with a meucci fr-3 with a black dot shaft, i like the feal of the hit better than my previous joss w/ joss shaft, but then i've pretty much always played with meucci cues. As far as the black dot is concerned, i like the way it hits but not as much as thier old shafts that where hard rock maple.

But maybe thats just because i got so used to them. as far as any other comparison to like the 314 or z or whatever, i haven't ever shot with either so i cann't say anything ont he subject.

I have a Meucci with a black and a red dot shaft I like the red dot better cause it's not a laminated shaft, just hard rock maple. When you go to buy a Meucci, check the black dot for any defects, they like to delaminate and warp. I would stay away from Meucci now cause they're quality has fallen to the way side, if you pick up an old Meucci from the 80's you will have a great cue. Stay away from the new ones. Just my opinion.

I have a Meucci w/black dot shaft. It was my first cue, I like the way the black dot hits, but now I have a Predator... I won't go back. I started breaking with the Meucci for a while but now I break with my old Z1 shaft. I think Meucci makes a decent cue, But I am sold on Predator now:)

Thanks.... Shooting with a McDermott(my first cue) for about a year now and thinking about changing shafts..So many out hard to decide what to go with... The 314 and the Z seem to be popular here.

To me, the best aftermarket shaft is the OB-1, it does not have the hollow feel like the 314's and the Z. It's a nice solid shaft.
For me the best shaft is a good old growth solid Maple shaft with a 30 growth ring count, with a 3/4" ferrule.

Have you tried the 100 years old wood shafts by Paul Dayton

I think it could make a great break cue shaft, I like the "lack the ability to warp" thing...... 8)

I am not a big fan of the Meucci videos. I believe that he set up his experiment/demonstrarion in a way that is biased to how his shaft performs. There is no need to use an object ball to measure deflection. The shaft is what pushes the cb off of it's intended path when struck with side english. It seems to me that he could have more accurately measured deflection by removing the object ball and allowing the cue ball to strike the carbon paper.

Check out this link.

I think this study gives a far more accurate portrayal of shaft deflection.

This study also answers the previous post as well, minus the warr info. 8)

I have been flip flopping the Z2 with the Black Dot. Some nights I don't want the extra revs from the Z2. Heck...sometimes I win the most games with an old beat up 18oz house cue. The best cue is the one your comfortable with at the time.
