My girlfriend recently bought a Joss. I personally think it's a great cue. Although in that same price range, you could also pick up a Schon or a Pechauer. As far as the shaft, you may be stoking up a fire. If you run a search under the Predator section you will find a thread titled Predator vs Tiger. There was a lot of discussion regarding this topic. What I eventually got out of the discussion was to try out various shafts until I found something I was happy with. Also, not to give up on something after only trying it for a short amount of time. It takes time to adjust to shafts designed to minimize deflection. Having said that, if you are looking for a shaft to reduce deflection, then you may want to look into Predator as well as Tiger. Predator technology does what it claims if you are willing to invest the time to adjust to it. Nothing good comes overnight, so don't expect immediate improvement. Also, if you are used to shooting with conventional shafts, the neither Predator nor Tiger may be the answer for you. You really need to try one or both of these shafts out before making the purchase. Or if money isn't an issue, buy both and sell the one you like the least.

thanks a bunch, nathar!
my friend let me use his 4K1 (with a first generation 314) for a couple of days and i really liked the feel of it.. i really wanted to get one until i learned that they are now being manufactured in china. some say that there's not much difference between 314 and X shafts so im under the impression that the X shafts are now better in quality.. im really in a dilema and i guess i'd give it a lot thoughts first before i decide what shaft i should get.. :?

Actually, the shafts and the P2's are still made in America. Just the butts for the 5K series are made in China. At least that is my understanding. If I'm incorrect, I know someone will jump in and correct me. Especially since one of the sales reps for Predator is a regular poster on this board. I know people who are playing with the new shafts and they are more than satisfied with them. Also, you can still get the original 314 and Z-shaft here on Seybert's site for a great price while they last. And no, I receive no compensation from Seybert's for posts of this naure. :?
