I recently got my Viking VM34 with 314 stolen from me and i am desparate to find a comprable cue ASAP!!!!! ! I Have always had my eye on a Predator P2 or a Schon cues. I had my viking for about 4-5 yrs. and in that time i became better and more serious pool player so naturally I am considering getting a more serious cue. My overall price of my cue was apx. $400 with the shaft. Unfortunatly i am not working with a lot of money and as I wrote in another post my first priority is buying a used table for my basement. So I have a real dellema here. Obviously I am going to have to save up for a cue Im not sure i will be able to save for the length of time necessary to get 8-900 bucks to get the cue i really want. I know i shouldn't settle but i could save up 400 bucks fairly soon so I could get a similar cue maybe a basic predator cue which i would love.

I am not a beginner and i am certainly not anywhere near pro i am somewhere around the intermediate level. I may not be ready for what at this time i might consider a top quality cue (now of course a custom cue with some crazy woods would be higher but im just not in a position to spend over $1000)

What do you think of going to a pool hall and asking around to see if anyone has a cue for sale and buying a good quality used one vs. buying a new one and spending 500 at least more.

I bought my X :( girlfriend a Meucci power piston 4 for 200 bucks in my last pool hall and that thing new you cant get less than $750. And it is a great cue, great condition. Have any of you done this? and would you recomend i try asking around? Opinions needed and welcome!!!!

You can get a basic Schon for less than $500 and you will have a better cue than McDermott, Viking, Predator, or any production cue for that mater, regardless of the price. At least IMHO.

I highly recommend a Predator sneaky pete with an upgraded shaft for the money your looking at investing plus you'll have some to spare for that table your also looking at getting ..Good Luck with your decision

a Predator sneaky pete sp4rj $286.20
upgrade 314-2 $45
upgrade z-2 $65
joint protectors $20 (also recommend)

leaves you between $30 to $50 approx.

I have played with this cue as my 1st "real" playing cue and I just loved it

*currently playing with a P2 and a Schon
break cue - Predator BK2

If you go to www.INDYQ.com look at the Pat Diveney cues, awesome playing cues, for the $350 to $450 range on up or look at the Steve Kleins they are a little more at $550 and up, These are custom cues & I own 2 from each cue maker that I mentioned. Call Roy at INDYQ and talk to him, waste the phone call, but Ill tell ya, it wont be a waste. Tell Roy Brazil said to call him and speak with him, you might come away owing a nice new custom cue.
