I am considering the viking F65 or the Pechauer JP05. Both are around 270-288. What cue do you think is a better cue for the money? Not just talking about the looks, but about the quality as well. Maybe I will add a predator shaft later on, but for now I want to get a good cue within this budget. Other options within the budget are accepted too..... (NO sneaky petes, please !!).
Have you tried these cues? What do you think of them? How do they feel?
Also I noticed that both of this cues have implex joints... Do you think that I should change the joint to #1 in the case of the viking? Because I read some old posts about cracks in the butt joint of the viking. Is this still an issue? 8O
Thanks for your help.
Good choice of cues....
When it comes to looks, I like them both....
Both cues are good quality cues, I like the Pechauer a bit better, it has a better feel (in my opinion).

Thanks for your opinion Skor!! :) But, what about the viking joints? I think that you once posted that a friend of yours had a Viking with implex joints and there were small cracks in the butt joint... Is that joint the actual Viking standard # 5? Should I change the joint if I picked the Viking?
yes, but that's just one cue out of many....
I do feel that the construction of the Pechauer is a bit moe solid

Neither of the cues comes with a metal joint... Should I expect a soft hit from both of them?
Do you think that the fact that in the shaft deflection test, that all of us have seen in the internet, the viking shaft has a low percentage deflection is a good thing to consider? Because the pechauer rates between one of the lasts! :? [/url]

You can always request a change of joint on a Viking cue. Mine has joint
# 2 and it plays great.
shaft deflection tests are not something that I will rely on when buying a cue.... sometimes these test are a bit biased...
the Pechauer is less flexible then the viking shaft so it does cause the cue ball to deflect more but you'll need to compensate anyway with both shaft, it just means that you'll have to find the right pivot point of the shaft.
call seyberts for joint options, I belive that you can custom order a different joint type for the Pechauer as well

I have just realized that for that same amount of money I could get a Fury NR (NR-12) with a predator 314 shaft included... I know Fury cues are made overseas, so I think the Pechauer is a better quality cue. What do you think would be better: A better quality cue (the pechauer) with the standard shaft, or a perfomance 314 shaft with a Fury NR cue?

Finally.... I decided to go with the Pechauer JP-05. :P To get the Predator Shaft at once with the Fury cue was tempting :? , but I decided to get the Pechauer. I am sure that it is a good quality cue, and maybe later I will add the predator shaft. Then I will have a good quality cue, and two good quality shafts! 8)
good decision 8)
I'm sure you'll like the cue

Dunno how I missed this thread but, you could not go wrong with either choice. I think you will be very happy with your pechauer. Definitely good stuff!

Thanks all for your help. :D I already ordered it (from Seybert, of course). I can't wait for it to arrive! Maybe later, when I save some money to buy the predator shaft, seybert will have available the predator 314 2 for the pechauer cues!

Hey 9ballkiller,
The 314 2s are now available at Seyberts and the first-gen 314 are on sale! Get em while their hot! Did you get one yet? I shoot with the old 314 and love it! You might think about getting the original Z since it is greatly discounted now.

Thanks for the info! But, actually, I had a little problem with my cue order. :? After I placed the order, Seyberts told me that the Pechauer cue that I wanted was discontinued and they didn't have it in stock anymore, so I would have to choose a model from the new 2006 line. 8O The thing is that after serious consideration... I ended up buying a Predator 4K4 with a 314^2 Shaft!! 8) And I don't regret it any second!!! Believe me, there is not a single picture of this cue on the entire web that captures it's real beauty!! It's not just awsome in looks, but if plays great and feels superb!!!! :D
