Something to try for the weekend.
On league Thursday I made the most incredible break that I've done to date. I NORMALLY make 98% of the time make 1 ball on the break, 70-80% of the time 2 balls on the break, & maybe 30% of the time 3 balls on the break.
Thursday was a little different, I got down, lined up like normal took my warm up strokes, aimed and pulled the trigger. I heard the rack crack then the other team yell HOLY SHIT! I said what a little off guard cause didn't realize what had happened. I looked at the table I had made 4 balls on the Break all High Balls.
The BK2 was definately working Thursday, I'm headed to our monthly tour stop now so I hoping to have a good showing.

That is a hell of a percentage Black_Cat. I am sure there is not a pro alive that can come close to those numbers.
But I do have one question. What does that mean, "NORMALLY"? That you don't have to count all but 2% of your unsuccessful breaks?
By the way, I normally get out my first trip at the table 98% of the time.

Well I posted this in another forum, but I took the poll so I will put it here. Normally in 8 ball if I make anything it is 1 - 2 balls. So I put that on average I make one. I figure since it is an average, and there are times where I don't make anyting, and times where I make several. I figured one was a good average.
Anyway if you pocket a ball 98% of the time my hats off to you, cause I haven't seen anyone in the world do that. There are so many balls in 8 ball that it is amazing that even one goes in some of the time. There are just too many things flying around to keep them out of the pocket.
I will say this, and I said it in the other post 70 - 75% of the time I pocket one off the break in 8 ball. I have seen people that are probably in the higher 80%, but I am not there yet. I mean alot depends on the way they are racked too. I don't think I have ever seen someone pocket something on the break 98% of the time on 8 or 9 ball though.
To me it is a lot easier to pocket something on 9 ball. Watch the pros, it seems like everytime they break something falls. A lot of time more than one will fall. I think that is because there are a lot less balls flying around, and because it takes less to break them apart too. I know people don't believe me but I am pretty close to 90% on pocketing one ball off the break in 9 ball.
As for 4 balls off the break in 8 ball, congrats. I have done that a few times in my league, and I don't have a fantsy predator break cue. I have also broke and pocketed 5 off the break, but in our league you have to spot the eight afterwards, so I only count that as 4 off the break. LOL
Well have fun is all I can say, cause I don't think anyone in hear will believe 98%. If it is true, then you will probably need to gamble on it a bunch, cause if your that consistent it would be worth the money.

HA! HA! :D
Well maybe 98% is a little high but, in all honesty it is very rare that I don't make at least 1 ball when I break.
I break the same way all the time same position on the table, same ball hit, and most of the time the ball or balls that go in either the same corner pocket, or the side pocket on the same side of the table.
Maybe I'll make a slow motion video, hmm that will be a neat project.
Anyway I thought this would get more of a response, oh well I guess no one makes any balls on the break regularly. :?
Come on let's get some feed back here, came in sixth it the tournament couldn't wait to get home and see the responses.

I saw a guy put in 5 on the break in 9-ball the other night. He turned around and told us that "4-ball is my favorite game on a pool table!!" :)

black cat what's the break cue that you use. I also try to manage atleast 1 ball during my break but, it depends on the table i play in, if its fast hell yea u can expect forsure atleast 1, on the other hand if its slow it rarely goes in. I use predator on fast tables and stinger on slow.

Predator BK2
I break from the left side, about 3 inches from the head string towards the head rail, about 3 inches from the side rail.
I contact the CB with about 1/2 tip left & 1/2 a tip low english. I shoot the second ball in the rack.
The only thing that I vary is how hard I break, which depends on the table once I'm dialed in on the break speed, if I'm breaking at least a ball falls.
In 5 five years of league play I have 28 8 on the Breaks, which I have patches for each one. And, generally I get atleast 1 8 on the Break per week when practicing, the 8 ball alway's moves out of the rack.

I've broken 4 or 5 on the break in nine-ball a few times and was unable to get out because I had bad or no position on the lowest ball on the table. I've also ended up with shape that a drunk girl scout could get out from as well.
Lots of balls on the break is nice and arguably increases the chance of a single stroke victory but, all in all, I would rather have one or two balls on the break and good position for my next shot.
For the record, my 8-ball break, when it is really working, frequently puts the 8 ball within inches of the side pocket and sometimes sends it the length of the table. I have my share of 8s and 9s on the break, too.

One night I broke with a house cue and got four stripes in, my buddy couldn't believe it, and I really couldn't either. But I was pretty happy.
I saw a guy get a 3 shot runout in 8 ball last year. 6 stripes on the break with shape on the 7th and the 8 right by the side.

I chose 1, and that is probably going to be pretty accurate. Some racks I make 2 or 3, and others I make none so.... just trying to be honest here.

I probably average over a ball a break because sometimes I will make two, three, occasionally four, and extremely rarely five (don't think I have ever done six balls on the break). But no way do I come close to pocketing a ball(s) on 98% of my breaks, even if I were to include my scratches.
I made 4 on the break once but the cue ball was one of them....... :(
