hey ppl, the break cues nowadays have phenolic tips, though it gives that additional power during the breaks some how i do not get as much cueball control like the older tips. Is there anyway how you can improve your cue ball control with phenolic tips, and also though you dont have to use side spin on breaks, when used the cue miscues the ball......
The answer is in the question....
Don't use spin on the break!!! it's easier to control something if there are less factors to compute.
Try to break softer with no spin and once you'll get good consistence breaks then you could try to increace the speed of the break.
Basically phenolic tips are not meant to be used with spin BUT a break shot with 1/4 tip a way from the center will produce a lot of spin.
Use a tip pik to roughen the tip so it'll hold chalk better.

Just be carefull when using a tip pick only because some cues have a "Lifetime" tip warranty that you void if using a tip pik. On the other hand do your break have a phenolic tip ferrule combo? If so I have found that combo doesn't provide accurate feedback on breakshots. Which leaves a strange feeling when you break. I have a Sledgehammer and I hate it, but I get results and to tell you the truth its from practice not phenolics.
