Ok here is a dumb question for all the pool gods in here.
When sneaky petes fist came out they got their name because they looked like a house stick, but they were actually two piece sticks.
Why is it now more and more are called sneaky petes, but they don't look like a house cue at all?
Can someone enlighten me?
The term "Sneaky Pete" was first recorded in use in 1949, The term was a slang for fortified wine....
This was the era of pool hustlers as well so I guess the term got stuck to pool cues that look like house cues, this way a good player can sneak on you.... although most hustlers from that era always said that they always used a house cue when they were hustlin'...
Most of the fancy sneaky petes made today don't look like house cues because most people can tell a two piece cue from a house cue so cue makers rather make them a bit more fancy and interesting...

depends on where you go to play pool too. Fast eddies and Dave and Busters use two piece cue as house cues. That's when you sneak up on people with no mercy.
