It is under warranty. My friend did the same thing. If you can contact Jerry Powers of Jerico he will make you another shaft.

Sounds like he would have a broken foot and a broken cue. It takes brass balls to abuse a borrowed cue like that.

I never understood why some players break like that.

I agree. I get a good break, usually 2-3 balls in 8-ball and at least 2 balls in 9-ball most of the time, without the theatrics.

Hey Skor I've often wondered myself why people bend the cue like that any insight.

I believe the theory is that since you are always hitting down on the cue ball, to make a full (and long) follow through on the break shot the shaft would have to go through the surface of the pool table. So if you continue to stroke the cue straight after you strike the cue ball the shaft will hit the table and bend. I've never actually measured the angle to see how far you should be able to follow through without hitting the surface of the table, but in theory it seems to make sense. But as you can see by skor's picture, most people tend to lift up the back of the cue and intentionally bend the shaft just to make it cool (or totally lame, depending on your point of view :P ). And obviously in practicality this isn't necessary, as evidenced by all of the people with great breaks who don't bend their cue into the table.
I agree with most of what mechmat said.
I don't think that people lift the butt to look cool, I think that it's part of the motion of the body while breaking with certain trchnics.
As a side note, I've noticed that when I do that (although not as much as Mike does) I get a very good break and more control on the CB, one of the problems I had with the Predator BK was that I was worried that it'll warp or break, after all it's a $300 cue so I didn't break like that and although I got good spreads I lost control of the CB, so I sold it :? and got a cheaper cue....
Another thing I feel is that it's harder to break like that with the new break shaft's taper that are more cone shaped and easier with the pro taper because it's more flexible (I guess that's why your shaft broke ander the presure) , I actualy got better break with the regular 314 shaft then with the 314 BK shaft.....
BTW, Mike Sigel has a great break and a great technic, he invented the "breaking from the box" thing....
..... regardless of how much he moves his eyebrows

Many players "throw" their whole body into the break to get that extra bit of power. In the course of the follow through they are coming up with the body (hence the butt of the cue) while keeping the bridge hand on the table will put the shaft on the table.

What's that? I've never heard that term before. :?:
The box is the marked area on the table in the picture, in some tournaments like all IPT events you can only position the cue ball in that "box" to break from - "breaking from the box"

i have been playing with stinger break jump, for about 7 months now surprisingly it has started to bend, where as i have been playing with predator bk for about 1.5 yrs and its dead straight and idea for this to happen and yea i dont hook on the break.

It could be a couple of reasons. Either Predator is using better materials, or you may have just been unlucky and received a bad shaft that slipped through quality control. I don't have any experience with Stinger products, so I am just speculating on any reasons.

Looks like sound advice to me.
hello Skor,
I like your posts in this forums,
I would like to know the name of the cue or shaft in the picture you attched here and where can we find it?...
Thanks,
Naser
I didn't post a picture of a cue, I posted a picture of Mike Sigel.....
Mike was making custom cues, I don't know if he still does and his web site is down.... I can't say for sure but my best guess would be that in the picture it's a Mike Sigel cue...

That is not how the Stinger is designed to be used! The cue does all the work just stroke through the ball like you are pushing it to the end rail and back. I know it sould like crap, but it is going to work, trust me! Ask Jerry about it and he will explain. KENETIC ENERGY BABY!!! p.s. I love my Stinger!
