hey guys, im planning to have a cuemaker make me a custom cue. I am thinking of an ebony forearm with pink ivory points. I havent really tried a cue with a pink ivory inlay before and if anyone here has tried, I would appreciate a heads up on what to expect. Btw, my alternatives for the forearm are Gaboon Ebony, Madagascar Ebony or African Blackwood or any other black color. Any idea on how they hit? :D

What do you mean by "tried" pink Ivory points? From what I understand it's the forearm wood that makes the most impact on how a cue hits/feels.

The other woods you mentioned all hit pretty firm, it will depend on the piece that is chosen for your cue.

I just figured someone might have had a bad experience with pink ivory, like in another forum someone had trouble with snakewood cracking due to temperature / humidity changes. I hope Pink Ivory is pretty stable :D

If you are going with a trust worthy cue maker then I wouldn't imagine it being a problem. Surely he values his reputation enough to not use questionable materials in his cues. I'm sure if there was a problem with pink ivory then he would let you know about it before he would commit to building a cue with it in it.

Pink Ivory info. I actually thought that it was a type of ivory.
The Wood
General: The sapwood of Cascara Buckthorn (pink ivory) is yellowish white, while the heartwood is similar but with a red tinge. It is without characteristic odor or taste, is hard and heavy.

Uses: Posts, turnery, furniture parts, novelties, bark and wood extract used for laxative.

Toxicity: Bark and fruits are poisonous, sap causes dermatitis

Novelties and laxitives? Whats up with that?
