I have a Lucasi L-E14 that weights 20 oz. The interchangeable bolt weights one oz. I want to try the standard 19 oz weight but if I remove the bolt, there's no counter screw to attach the rubber stop.

A very nice gentleman at Seybert's recommended I glue the rubber stop into place. I'm concerned about damage to the finish or what have you. Any recommendations for the adhesive?

Also, I thought the Lucasi had a weight range of 18.5 - 21 oz. Obviously, I can't easily make mine 18.5 oz. but how much does that range change affect the play of the cue? Isn't the cue balance point as important as the weight? With my very limited experience, the first thing I notice when I pick up a cue is how it balances in my hand. The second thing I notice is if it's light or heavy.

It's seems to me the balance point has greater impact on the play of the cue than weight. Am I wrong?

You can get an aluminum weight bolt that will weigh very little and still have a threaded portion for the bumper. You can cut the weight bolt down to where there is only a thread or two. This will minimize the weight but still allow enough purchase for the bumper.

jkregan - thanks for the tip. Apparently, those aren't available through Seybert's or the person I spoke to would have made that suggestion (I called the Toll Free Order Line to order).

Also, the cue weights 18.9 oz without the bold. To obtain 19 oz, I'd need a 0.1 oz bolt. Do you think I can order a 0.1oz aluminum Lucasi bolt?

Predator weight bolts will fit your Lucasi; They fit mine very well. A 2" aluminum weight bolt weighs 0.2 oz. It should be easy to cut it down some to get just what you want. I can't say for sure if it is threaded for your bumper but the guys at Seyberts should be able to tell you about that.

Does Lucasi have different ways of mounting their bumpers in different cues? Mine just pushes in. I have a friend with a Lucasi as well and hers just pushes in as well.

I took the weight bolt out of my LE66 and shoot without a weight bolt. But I didn't have any problem with the bumper. :?

If your cue weighs 18.9 oz without the bolt, do you really think that a .10 of an oz is going to make that much of a difference. I doubt you would even be able to feel it.

The answer is more than likely not.

I can only comment on what I know. If your Lucasi bumper is a press fit, all the better. There is no rule says you have to have a weight bolt.

nathar - No, I don't think I'd notice the .1 oz diff. But, I need the counter sunk threads in the bolt to affix the bumper which is attached with a small phillips head screw/bolt.

The bumper does fit very snug into the butt but I'm thinking it'd pop out if dropped on, or such.

I was just curious because mine is a press fit. It's hard as hell to get out and damn near impossible to get back in. And that is the case with every other Lucasi that I have seen in person. I didn't know that Lucasi had any cues where the bumper was held in with a screw.

Did you buy this cue new or used? It may be that if you bought it used that someone lost the original bumper and tried to replace it with something generic. If that is the case, you can probably get an authentic bumper for a couple of dollars and not have to worry about it.

My Lucasi sneaky pete was bought new and it has a screw holding the bumper in. I haven't really looked at others in detail.

Exactly which cue do you have?

LE-14

Both the SP and the LE-14 appear to have a different bumper than My cue which has the same type bumper as the PH on top. So there is the possibility that they may be held in buy a screw. I haven't seen either in person so I couldn't be sure.

The top 2 are the only sneaky petes currently available although I think the one on top has been discontinued. I'm pretty sure the LE-14 wouldn't be considered a sneaky pete.

I have the L200SP. It is a nice cue and certainly worth what I paid for it.
I currently have a Talisman extra hard tip on it and it breaks fairly well.

Honestly, I'm just trying to figure out which cue our guest is talking about. In the original post he states that it is an LE-14. And then later he has the Sneaky Pete. I just want to make sure that I'm giving out sound advice. Or if maybe we had another guest chime in and maybe I just got confused again. Not the first time and definitely not the last. :) 8)

I still don't understand how a discussion on Lucasi got into the "best cue.." room
I mean this thread was started to discuss the best cues not your avarage mass production made in china cue...
not that I have anything against lucasi, but lucasi has it's own thread and that's where this discussion should be.

Well, excuse me. Although I referenced my Lucasi, I think if you read my post again, you'll note I was inquiring about the effect of the weight bolt on the play of the cue. Presumably, that would apply to any cue with an interchangeable weight.

Sheeshh. Friendly Seybert group. Perhaps, I should look elsewhere for my next Predator.

 Yeah, I thought it was misplaced too. But that doesn't mean we can't try to help a guy out.
Oh and virtualdavid, you see the devilish little smiley in Skor's post. That means he was joking with ya. In the world I live in that is being friendly. And in all fairness this topic could have been better served in the Lucasi section or even under one of the billiard equipment threads. Just FYI. 8)

sorry if I was missunderstood and if I offended anyone, I was just kidding around....

If you stop and think for a second, then think about the next guy who own a Lucasi and has the same question, if he'll come on this board, he'll probably be looking for the answer in the Lucasi room...
and general weight bolts discussions should go into the "general equipment" room
