View Full Version : Cuetec sneaky pete for breaking
anybody tried using them for a break cue? i did, in fact i just bought it 2nd second hand for $15 and believe it or not it breaks extremely well. :) also i don't have to worry about taking care of it cuz it's fiberglass and very durable. my advise for those who can't afford a predator break cue, get a cheap cue like cuetec. btw, you can also use it as a war bat, just in case. ;)

I to purchased a second hand cuetec (dirt cheap) jump break cue. A good break stick, though not worth a darn as a jump cue. The quality of workmanship isn't very good. Although it doesn't affect the play, the metal joint collor came loose on my stick! I personally do not care for the fiberglass bond on the shaft. It just doesn't feel as smooth as a well maintained wood shaft, and I prefer a linen wrap. Complaints aside, it is a nice break stick does play well. It could easily be used as a persons regular cue. Someone looking for a decent cue but doesn't want to lay down too much money would find this a serviceable stick. A good choice for the novice (or once a week league player) looking to step up from a bar cue but isn't ready to fork over the dough for a cue from one of the premium manufacturers I've seen a lot of them on the used market and they can be had for a song!
btw, the cuetec's shaft i own is smooth. there are two types of fiberglass shaft the one that's sticky is the non-matte finished shaft. the one i own is with the matte finished type of shaft and it's stay smooth all the time. i like it better than the older models.

True Story:
About 2 years ago, I was entered in a tournament in Battle Creek.
I got there about an hour early for warm up.
On that day, I was shooting with my Meucci, when suddenly my tip flew off and landed in the side pocket.
It came down to
A) Shooting with a house cue
B) Forfieting the tournament
C) Buying the cheapest stick in the display case.
I opted for plan C.
What I got for under $60, was an incredible Cuetec Break cue- Metallic purple and a Gray hard case.. Both brand new. It's been nearly 2 years and I still use the thing. Predominantly as my break cue, but it also works good in a pinch when my Meuci becomes out of service.
I have the shaft that tends to accumulate all sticky foriegn matter 8O
But I wear a glove when I shoot and have for years so that isn't so much a problem.
Moral of the story.........Not all cheap sticks are bad. ANd mine has definitely paid for itself.

So true!
I have a $30 cue I bought from a hardware store. And it's not that bad!
I can draw back better than I ever have with it because of it's small tip. (No, it's not a snooker cue) and of course, the best thing of all, It only costs sent me back $30! :D
