problems with q clean

i used q clean for the first time. i put a pretty good amount on a slightly dampened cloth and i rubbed it on the shaft to get the stains out. it got i say most of the stains out except some of the deeper stains near the ferrule, so i rubbed a bit harder, then right after i burnished teh shaft for about 10 minutes with a dry towel. later that night, i went to the pool hall, and i noticed that the grain near the ferrule rose and it felt rough in my hands. did i clean my shaft wrong to raise the grain on my shaft? im goign to buy q smooth papers at the local billiards for burnishing too.

would it be more safter to just use an action shaft slicker to clean the shaft, or does that not even work?

For best results use the entire kit, 1st Q Clean, 2nd Q Smooth 3 finest grades only use the white if shaft is dinged up, 3rd Q Slick rub and buff in till dry this will seal and burnish shaft another step, 4th Q Glide this substance will make the shaft (Glide) almost like melting ice on glass. For ultimate longevity consider shooting with a glove. You go 2 - 3 times as long in between cleanings and further treatment.
