When you use the q clean, can you just use the q clean or do you need the whole kit? would it be ok to just use the q clean instead of the whole kit? or do you need the whole kit to close the pores in the wood, ect ect..all i really wan tto do is clean my shaft lol.

You can use just the Q-Clean, but you will want something to burnish the shaft with after use. When you use the Q-Clean, along with a damp towel, the water opens and raises the pores of the wood. This will make the shaft feel a little rough. Burnishing with leather, or the Q-Smooth papers, will seal and smooth it.
So while you may not need the entire kit, you will definitely want something to burnish it with.

I would not use a dollar bill, and a leather glove would likely get torn apart pretty quickly. I use an old gun holster sometimes, as it is good thick leather, and it works well. But the leather on a glove, probably wont do a great job.
I'd strongly suggest picking up one of the burnishing materials from Seyberts. Weather it be the burnishing papers, or a piece of leather, either will get the job done a lot better than your other options.

a few days ago i cleaned my shaft with a damp towel and wiped it dry. that was before i read about pores opening when wood is exposed to water. doing this once, will this cause any permanent damage such as shaft warpage?

Nah, as long as you did not submerge your shaft in a bucket of water. You still use the Q-Clean with a damp cloth as well.

are there any household items or home depot items that i can burnish my shaft with? i heard like leather belt or cardboard or something. my mom owns a dry cleaners, and she said she will bring home a piece of leather. the local billiards shop doesnt carry any for a few weeks either. i want to burnish my shaft asap, so any way i can get quick leather would be fine
Paper towel works great for me.....
Anything that will not scratch or damage the shaft but still will generate heat upon friction will do just fine

you dont have to put anything on your shaft to burnish it right? can you just use the leather or wahtever to close the pores in your shaft or do you need to put wax on it and burnish it and blah blah blhah to close the pores?
No you don't, just make sure not to generate too much heat

Yeah, wouldn't want it to catch on fire...
As a side note, it should not matter too much.. But I prefer not to burnish with a paper towel that is dyed, or has a pattern... Just dont want ink coming off onto the shaft.

NO. That is essentially just a piece of generic ScotchBrite and is used for cleaning and should not be used to burnish the wood. Either a clean terry towel or a piece of clean, fairly smooth leather would work best.
