View Full Version : IPT Qualifier, here I come!!
Neil Fujiwara

Just submitted the entry fee for the qualifier on January 27-29th at The Pool Room in Marietta, GA.. It is the single biggest investment I have ever made towards the game, changed my diet, exercise regimen and practice schedule to tighten up my game.
Wish me luck folks!!

Good luck Neil. Do you know i they are changing the playing conditions to the IPT requirements? (ie tight pockets, slow cloth). Thanks.

Wow Neil, that is awesome! Hopefully you can get your card!
If I am correct, isn't their a payout to all members of the tour?
Neil Fujiwara
01-13-2006, 12:02 PM
You are "promised" $13k for 2006 and $100k for 2007, that is the total prize money or endorsements you will receive by being an IPT member.
Spartan: We have a table like that set up at Bankshots, the cloth actually plays pretty fast, but no, I don't think they are changing to IPT specs at The Pool Room.
You go boy!!!!!
show them what you got
we are all for you here!

Go get'em Neil. You may want to check the IPT website again though. I thought that for 2006 it was $31k. But that may be if you were already holding an 06 card. As the $2k entry fees for the qualifying tourneys goes directly back to the qualified IPT playing members. There are so many ways that players are getting paid on the IPT that it's almost hard to keep up with. Good luck Neil. I hope to see you on TV one of these days.
In about another 2 years I plan on taking a stab at it myself. Assuming I can raise my game enough over the next 2 years. LOL But here's to trying.
Make em hurt Neil, make em hurt.

It's not that I hate that nickname, but I really wish I had a different one. For those of you that wonder what the hell I am talking about, the nickname that my old sponsor gave me was "pillage". And over the years nothing else has replaced it so it kind of stuck, which I am not exactly thrilled about.
Anyone have any other ideas for a nickname? It seems you really haven't "made it" till you have one, so I guess the quest is on to find a suitable nickname for myself. The one I kind of liked is "the real deal", but I think Evander wouldn't take kindly to that.

Neil "Make you Squeal" Fujiwara. Eh, that sounded better in my head.

LOL....hey it's one of those double meaing nicknames...actually I think the Real Deal sounds sweet. That is an awesome nickname, besides what's Evander now like 80! Think about it he lost to John "The Quiet Man" Ruiz...so he can be the deal in boxing. And you could be Niel "The Real Deal" Fujiwara in pool turning contenders into pretenders.

That's an awesome line!! I don't want to be too boisterous, I want actions to speak louder than words.

Fuji woof-woof, there is only one person that calls me that and he owes me money. If you see him, tell him to do the right thing and the next time I am in Vegas give me a call and settle up.

Trivia- Another one of Neil's nicknames is "the Asian assassin" which is pretty cool. I have also heard a couple of different versions of it but I am not sure Neil would want me to tell you guys.
Personally, I think his nickname should be "The Samurai" Neil posses a lot of qualities that put me in that mind set.
What about Neil Fujiwarrior! lol

I dont think it is hard to pronounce to begin with. But having such a complicated last name like Gibson, might explain why I think that... If not for my Uncle Mel, no one would know how to pronounce it! lol.. j/k...

Funny story, and it is true...
I was playing on my Monday night league a couple years ago, and this kid Tommy who plays on the other team was sitting to my right.. I know the guy, he's a bit cocky... But I can't make out why...
Anyways, my team mates sister came to watch, and she is beautiful. Well tommy moves next to her.. And says, hello.. Upon her reply, he dead seriously asked her... "Did it hurt?" She not knowing this line replied "Did what hurt?" To which Tommy finished up by saying "When you fell from Heaven."
He absolutely seriously thought that line was going to work, and all she could do was roll her eyes, and move closer to me... Funny shite, how dumbfounded he looked when it did not work..
spartan
01-19-2006, 10:45 AM
lol I have one similar. My brother, his friend, and me are out at Fridays and his friend goes up to a rather attractive female sitting at the bar. He asks her seriously "Are you tired?" she says "Why would I be tired" he says "Since you are an angel you must have been flying around all day." He wouldnt leave her alone for like 10 minutes. He bought her a drink and she spit in it and left. We still bust his balls to this day.

Be honest, be confident, act like you AREN'T trying to get laid and say "Hello, my name is Zach, what's yours?"
If you try a line their defenses immediately go up and they think that you think they are a moron because they think that cheesy line will work. It only works with humor and it has to be pulled off well, like you are goofball and making fun of people who try to effectively use those lines.
These are just words of advice that I am regurgitating, none of it is original thought and is coming from a guy that has been single for over 2 years.........and loving it.

I get WAY too much attention from guys for my pool playing ability, why can't women appreciate the game like men can? If I got asked to play adn hang out with girls as much as I got asked to play with guys I would be a happy camper.
audiopro
01-21-2006, 12:10 PM
Neil, go for option 2. Ask the girls if they would like to play a game. Playing doubles is always a good in. 8)
Neil Fujiwara
01-21-2006, 12:17 PM
Usually when I do that I play left handed, but that gets frustrating quickly and is not a lot of fun. I can't play just to play, if it's not in competition I would rather just practice by myself. It's a bad way to look at things and there are lot's of opportunities that are being missed, but that's just the way I am.

Indeference can be a beautiful thing.
Haven't you ever noticed that women are always more interested in you when you aren't interested in them, or when you are already seeing someone and not necessarily looking for anything else?
Listen to Mastah Neil younglings. He knows of what he speaks. 8)

I heard a good one today, "Act as though it is a favor to hang out with him/her.".
It's not about being superior to anyone, it's an attitude adjuster that will put you in an appealing position. If you are wanted in other places and by other people the time you spend with them will be valued. You have to have confidence is any situation, being smug or arrogant is even an attractive feature to some since it shows (though sometimes falsely) that you are in control.
One of the books the shed a lot of light on human emotions is "48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene. He also wrote "The Art of Seduction" which is a good book on personalities and understanding them.
nathar
01-23-2006, 11:54 PM
Excuse me. I meant indifference not indeference. Is that even a word.
I've recently come to the conclusion that the trick is to stimulate a woman's mind. In other words, if presented the right way(playfull not arrogant) you can get away with saying just about anything. When you say something a woman isn't expecting to hear, and most importantly isn't complementary, it stimulates her mind in a way that you wouldn't believe. I AM NOT SAYING ACT LIKE A JERK. Just that beautiful women hear how beautiful they are on a daily basis. Don't be like every other guy. 8)

This ain't the World Series of Poker here. The payouts are big, but if you don't have the onions to play then you better not waste your money entering.
They are really trying to not have thousands of people showing up for the qualifiers. It would be a logistical nightmare. WSOP just happens to be a great example of this.
Neil lost his second match as well, too bad... :(
he lost to Louis Ulrich 10-8
but there will be other opportunities.

How good did the competition look? How many people were shooting that just did not belong, and did you see any potential talent that will do well in the IPT. Or do you think that those who qualify from this tournament will just be cannon fodder for the pro's already on the tour?

It was a great event, thanks again for all of your support.
Met Kevin, he is a very nice guy and is constantly around and will make time to talk to anyone, I really respect that. The competition was fierce and the tables were.........."interesting", but they were the same for everyone so that is no excuse.
There was some great 8-ball being played, I think 5 players got a $5k reward for running a 6-pack which is pretty damn amazing in competition. The online coverage of the tournament is good and they have some nice pictures, everyone should check it out to get an idea of what went on.
