My stroke used to be very inconsistent until I broke down and finally got lessons. The first thing the instructor did was to set up a video camera and tape my stroke. I had no idea that my stroke was as bad as it was. After being able to see what I was doing from another perspective, I knew exactly what to work on. This was not an instant process however. One of the hardest things to do is to break old habits. Relearning my stroke really screwed up my game for a while, but when I finally got consistent with it, so many other parts of the game became accessible as well. If you are really looking to improve your game find an instructor and take lessons. You will learn so much faster than you can through books and videos. And after the lessons, the books and videos will become far more helpful than they were before the lessons.

That's how it has worked for me anyway. 8)

yeah i've looked that route but found them to be very expensive, i know players like reys said they never took a lesson in their life, for me it seems like the more i concentrate on the stroke the more it changes, when im confident i just go out dont think about it and i make more shots... the problem is when i do miss i begin to think more about my stroke then i should... but yeah i need to find a consistent stroke that i can repeat over and over, im sure my game will improve... i'll set up a camera maybe i'll notice something different...

i did alot of straight in shots today, trying to get a true stroke down and it worked.... after a while i was fireing everything in straight, i could even draw the ball back.. then i went out, and when i came back i had lost the touch, goes to show you how important practice really is, i need to be more systematic instead of just spreading balls around and trying to pocket them...... :o
